what handbag for wedding-related events?

So I think I've found my two dresses for the wedding-related events. The coral chiffon will be for the rehearsal dinner and the floral will be for the mother's day brunch and family luncheon (first is J's family, second is my family) which is more of a garden party level of formality.

I will be wearing gold shoes with low wedges and ankle straps (not sure which ones yet).

My question is whether either of these clutches will work with these dresses, or should I just get a gold handbag/clutch?

Just get a fun gold clutch and be done with it!

I like sparkly with a soft not rigid shape.

sense it's a wedding event, you might be standing a lot. so it might be nicer to have the top one, but I like the bottom one for a wedding better.

I like the blue one with the salmon dress. I never spend that much time holding my clutches so they are not that important to my whole look. I usually find a place to stash them.

With the second dress, I'm not so sure, but the top clutch might work.

Of course if you want an excuse to find a new clutch I am happy to enable you!

I agree, get a gold one. I'd vote for a more matte finish though. I have a woven matte gold clutch that I bought a few years ago and I like it equally for day or evening events. But I'm not really into sparkle, so take my opinion with a grain of salt :-).

Diana I am going to enable a new clutch as well. I like some of the ones that BJ has linked to. I think it is worth trying to get one that has the option of the shoulder strap as you will likely be standing and mingling a fair amount.

I am leaning towards gold as well. Actually both of the pictured clutches do have shoulder straps, but I think the colors don't go. I always try to find clutches with shoulder strap or at minimum a wrist strap since I have issues with carrying them by hand for any long period (especially since I like bigger clutches and I have small hands and weak wrists).
Hee, this will be the third evening bag I have bought this spring. But it's OK as I pretty much got rid of all of mine (save for a boring small black handbag) last year.

I don't think either bag really works for these dresses. I'd go with some sort of neutral (but dressy) clutch that will work for both dresses. FWIW, I own this VC clutch and it works beautifully as a dressy neutral bag for many situations. It's not gold, but it has gold metallic details...plus, it comes with two straps for variety. And it's even on sale:

YAY for dress decisions. I'm wondering you will need a topper for these events and if that will change the handbag decision, although you can't go wrong with gold. Sorry to toss a complication into it. Pashmina wrap of some kind? Cardi? Would be nice if the same would work for both, even nicer if you already had something in the closet.

Ann, I doubt I will need a substantial topper, so I'll probably just do a pashmina of some sort. Definitely not a cardi. Possibly a jacket but I think that will be too warm. (I run warm, plus I will be super nervous, I'm sure, which will make me warmer.) In any case, it will be something that goes with gold since the shoes will definitely be gold.

I vote gold but LOVE the idea of the blue with the coral dress!
