Angie,
I don't really like to change handbags often. If I were going to buy one nice one to use for all but dressiest occasions, what would you recommend? My style is pretty casual, maybe smart casual.

I do wear a lot of black and a lot of jeans. I don't want a black bag but I think I might want a saddle color. I'm small framed--5'4" and 120lbs.

I do like red bags and these are beautiful! I'm just not sure I want to carry one for my "all the time" bag.

lynn, I understand. I would approach this decision by having a look at all the colors in your wardrobe. Would a black bag be more versatile than brown for everyday use?

I would go for a medium size bag with single shoulder strap that, when carried, fits great under your arm. With lots of pockets inside and not too much bling outside.

Have you seen any that you would recommend? I really want a saddle color but can't decide whether to spring for an expensive one and hope I will like it for a long time or look for a cheaper version. I have already bought 2 cheap ones and have not been very happy.

lynn, I would suggest perusing the offerings on Zappos. I am very partial to Tignanello bags because of the high quality/reasonable price ratio. They are typically 100% leather and can often be found at T J Maxx and Marshalls for well under $100. I have one Tig bag that is over 10 years old and still looks like new!

I know what you mean about cheaper bags. Although once in a while you'll find one that holds up well, despite being inexpensive.

How much are you thinking about spending?

I have it in oak brown ( cognac). It is lightweight, the leather is very supple and rich looking. The design itself is very, very smart. There is plenty of pockets

Added bonus: I have been caught in the rain a couple times with it. It seems as if the leather was waterproofed. The bag dried up without a stain.

I got it for my birthday back in July. I have not changed bags since then. That is how much I like it.

O my gosh! Zapotee, that is a great bag
, unfortunately there was only one left and it was moss colored. I bet it is gorgeous in your brown color. Thanks so much for your recommendation.
