So about 1 1/2 years ago I had no idea that Hamilton was even a ‘thing’. That is, until my son explained that the Facebook profile picture of his face superimposed on a woman’s body was that of a Schuyler sister.

The stars aligned during a recent trip to Chicago for a friend’s birthday dinner and I was able to see the show! On the train ride down I got a wild hair to investigate tickets and discovered the theater was only a 15 minute walk from the train station. Once at the ticket window the agent said I got the last ticket for that day’s matinee - probably said to make me feel special It was a fabulous seat - 12th row center on the main floor - that he said would otherwise sell for $500-$600.

The show got out at the perfect time for me to catch the commuter train to the suburbs for dinner. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect weekend. Well, except for some warm weather.

I knew none of the music going in but now find myself totally entranced. That Lin-Manuel Miranda knew what he was doing!
