I joined YLF in January 2017, after reading all the posts on Recovering Shopaholic the previous year and tracking wears since May 2016. My over-stuffed wardrobe at the time was a combination of both over-buying, without sufficient care, and over-sentimentality, keeping beloved clothing too long. Thanks to Angie and all of you things have improved!
I read old posts last night- one from 2017 had me with 177 items I counted plus lots of other old or sentimental stuff. I now count 165 items and have much less of the other uncounted stuff. I wish it were more than 12 items down but I did still buy in those years: 17 items in 2017, 27 items in 2018, and 24 items in 2019.
This half year I have bought only 3 items and been given one.
Purchases: black high-vamp loafers for my birthday bought end Feb, already worn 29 times.
Olive boots bought during lockdown in May, worn 7 times so far.
Thrifted white peasant top bought in June for $14, not worn yet.
Blue faux fur jacket, gift for birthday sent by UK sister, not worn yet as quite a warm winter so far- 2 months of winter to go so hopefully will be.
I am feeling quite proud of myself! I have also made sure almost everything I edited out this year had 30 wears or more except for the 3 pairs high heels I should have edited out before, which did not. I had asked the forum about those as part of a group in 2017 but still couldn’t let go, and also tried to sell all 3 without success last year. Then my local favourite mall had a drive for Dress for Success, which I know is Angie’s favourite charity to give her cast-offs to. All 3 pairs were barely worn so I donated them there.
12 items out this half year, only 4 in.
I am also trying to increase wears on all less-worn items where possible.
Thank you all again!
