You look absolutely AMAZING !

I agree with Suz about the blazer style leather jacket. Some years ago I had identical leather blazers in black and dark brown, and I wore them and wore them until I lost weight and they got to be too big. I have been looking and longing for replacements ever since!

And may I also say that your hair is so beautiful! That is your beautiful natural color, isn't it? As somebody who started going gray in my early 20s, I am so envious!!!

You look marvelous!

Fantastic look! Great blazer and I love the white shirt layered under the sweater.

You look gorgeous, the leather with the polkadots is a perfect and I am looking forward to seeing more of your style......welcome again

Big yay here. Great gradations from black to dots to white shirt.

Love that you posted & you look great - NOT like a man

Wow! You look so stunning in your leather jacket. Thank you so much for posting!

That leather blazer is so fab, and you look wonderful.

Thank you for posting this outfit and picture so we can get to know you! A person can post hundreds of threads but if I don't see a picture of them, my recall of them seems to vanish. We are so wired to remember a human face. You are lovely and look so good -- much younger than in your 80s. I mean that sincerely.

Your leather jacket is beautiful, Eirlys, chic and modern, and I hope that after all the positive comments you'll start wearing it often!-)
I love how you've paired it with the crisp white shirt and the polka dot cardigan (the white dots echo the white in the shirt, which makes it look extra fresh to my eye).

Excellent idea also to get a pair of bootcut jeans. Black will definitely work, but a pair of dark wash jeans would look equally fab.

Thanks so much for posting, Eirlys, you look wonderful!

Love, love, love the leather jacket with the polka dots! Thanks for posting a photo so we could put a (pretty) face with a name (and admire your jacket!)

Big yay, and wonderful picture! That's how it's done

Pish posh to looking like a little old man, you look like a rockin' chic woman! Straight leg jeans or bootcuts worn with a heel would be gorgeous.

I'm just blown away by the fit and the details of your leather jacket. What an eye you have for style! You've taken a garment that could easily be selected so as to convey roughness, harshness, severity, mannishness, authoritarianism... and it is anything but.

How wonderful to see you! Love your soft hairstyle and smile.

No old man in sight! The layering is fun, but still simple and unfussy. The details such as dots and top stitching add some flair. If you still want a bit more feminine feel, you could open the neckline slightly and add a short necklace. Not at all necessary, and the look as is very modern -- but part of outfit creation is our own "happiness" factor. How do you feel when you wear this?

I tried on lots of jeans before I locked onto a look that works for me. To keep from dressing room exhaustion, I would shop only one store a day, and spread it out over a couple of weeks.

I don't know how tall you are, but don't forget the possibility of shopping the petite department. Also, sometimes I "preshop" on websites, noting the hem lengths and rises and checking for store availability.

Black denim or a dark wash would be wonderful.

Gosh! I am somewhat lost for words. I truly didn't expect all the positive comments I have received here.

The leather jacket will be worn, I promise you!

I have a "thing" for polka dots: love them and my favourite Summer outfit is a black and white polka dotted flippy skirt with white tops. Seems to be just right for sunshine and the RAIN we get in the UK.

MaryK: My hair is not easy to control. The natural colour is mouse and my hairdresser/friend refuses to colour it. I have a light perm( old fashioned, yes?) but my hair seems to be affected by the statins I take. One side effect can be loss of hair so I must count my blessings there.

I do believe in Vitamin therapy, even though so-called experts say this belief has no real foundation.

Hi Eirlys, I think you look lovely with that sharp white topstitching on the jacket and the feminine polka dots beneath. For your jeans expedition, I bought a great pair in Marks & Spencer a few weeks ago which might be what you are looking for - they just have "straight" printed in the back waistband and are 93% cotton, 6% elastomultiester (whatever that may be!) and 1% elastane - that sounds very stretchy to me but they are a good weight and not loosely stretchy at all - it seems to just make them keep their shape. Definitely recommend them.

Good luck with your search - jeans shopping has to be one of the most frustrating until you find the ones you like!

Patsymaloo: I read your post just two minutes after ordering jeans on line. Yes, I know this is a dangerous thing to do but after my visit two weeks ago to M&S I could not face those racks of trousers/jeans again!

I find Marks often have skirts and trousers with "jug handles" and I have to take them in before I can wear them. This isn't always satisfactory either.

It's lovely chatting here to you all about fashion: makes me want to de-clutter and experiment!!

Late to comment but I love that you dared and it worked out beautifully!! It's a great feeling to realize we can wear something new to our normal styles, I think.

About hair -- I love my natural ash brown/gray melange. However, I don't love the texture or manageability any more -- my hair used to be very thick and full of body. Now it's become very fine and has trouble holding a style. I'm not on statins or anything, I think it's to do with some hormonal imbalance that doesn't show up in any other ways than that and my thickened midsection. YOUR hair and your look are fab and feminine, though!!

You look fantastic, Eirlys and this jacket really is a classic with classic good looks! My sister has one that I gifted to her, because it fit her better and she LOVES it and has been wearing it constantly, with blouses, turtlenecks, knit tops and all kinds of bottoms.

You'll find a pair of denim that speaks to you and, truly, when you have a nice piece like yours, you can pretty much wear it with anything. ^_^

You look wonderful Eirlys! That leather jacket is awesome. You don't look like a little old man at all - you look very stylish and modern and nowhere near your "paper age". Congratulations on your first WIW - looking forward to seeing more!

Crushing over your leather jacket!!! Such a cool look! I too want to dress like you when I grow up

Eirlys - "jug handles" - made me laugh! I know exactly what you mean and this is one of the things that drives me insane about dear M&S (the other being that as soon as you find something there that fits - doesn't have jug handles! - you go back to stock up ....... and it's gone, replaced with something else very similar, but very different). Should you need to though, you can go back, head down, determinedly ahead to these particular jeans - I am very straight over the hips, flat behind, and these jeans are fine.

I hope I look as fab as you when I grow up!

You look beautiful and fashionable! Looking forward to more posts from you.
