Hairstyle tweeking: suggestions please!

I am getting my hair cut on Friday and would appreciate any suggestions I could give the hairdresser which might make the style look a bit funkier.
I am only looking at cut, not colour

It is currently bobbed. I have been searching for a good pic - hope this will be do

For bonus points: any thoughts on the top" I am thinking of getting rid of it as it makes me feel too broadchested.

Does you hair air dry the way it looks in the picture? Mostly straight with a bit of a flip at the end?

You could also try playing with how you style it and use a flat iron to make the whole thing straighter, or use a flat iron to add texture (maybe something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtippnI1D9Q)

Depends how much time and energy you want to spend. Sleeker styles require more styling time because you have movement in your hair...how about some choppy layers, and texturizing the fridge around your face.

Hi, I just spend all day creating new looks for my clients, and this one still excites me, I guess you can tell that I love my job!
For you I would go much shorter, almost pixy cut short, it would look so good on you I think. To me your face shape looks square, so your current bob only adds width to your face. Your naturally wavy hair would love to be hugging your face, in wispy short fringe. In the morning wash your hair, towel dry really good, put little hair paste in your hands, rub and work it in into your hair, work your hair only with your fingers, no brushes or combs. Let you hair dry. EASY, I know you are busy, so this would be great on you, I'm 100% sure!

Thanks ladies.

It is fairly straight, only a tiny wavy aspect. Sometimes I forget to style it at all but usually I let it almost dry, put some styling stuff on it and blowdry the ends under.

Renata, I am kind of keen on the pixie look too and have sported it twice before (just been looking fruitlessly for a photo). But I am not sure DH would like it.

Theresa, I wm wondering now if it really was a true pixie cut - it was short. The second time around I called it my Halle Berry look (from when she had short hair) Pre-digital photo era I am afraid

I like it too Anne! Its very similar to my cut at the moment except I have a slight side swept fringe...

I find that its easy to deal with although I do tend to have to straighten it if I want to look polished - my hair is a bit too fluffy and kinky to really sit too nicely when un-straightened.

I think it's cute but honestly don't know if it's right for your hair. You don't seem like the kind who wants to or has time to fuss with blowdryers, straightening irons, and product. It looks like your hair is a bit flippy, which is going to be a completely different look.

I was actually going to say what Renata said. I just think its practical and would look fantastic on you. But I guess DH gets the final say.

Ohh that is a good point Maya. I don't even own a straightening iron ( I do have curling tongs, which were a gift, but have only used them about twice)

Anne, I actually REALLY like what Renata suggests for you. I know it is a scary thought (to go short), but the reality is that hair grows out if you don't like it. It would be quick and easy to style.....

My hubby is also funny as he always used to state that he preferred longer hair. However, now that I have gone shorter, he actually says that he thinks this look suits me more than longer hair ever did! He is a convert.

Frankly, I think for blokes, if you look stunning and gorgeous, you look stunning and gorgeous, no matter what the length of your hair! Even if you have it cut and he has an (initial) heart attack over the length, he will get over it. Some blokes just take a bit of time to adjust (poor poppets)....

PS - In terms of the "fringe" aspect and hubby's previous reactions, I'm thinking if you had a bob and then had a fringe cut, it would probably highlight and emphasise the squareness of your face. That may be what your hubby is noticing.

If it was shorter all over with a shortish fringe, I think that is a verrrrrrryyyyy different situation in terms of how it flatters your face. Food for thought...

Well I went for the mopshots cut. The stylist didn't think it would be hard to style. Here it is

I asked her about a fringe and she made a similar point to Katie, saying that if I had a bob and a fringe it would make my face look broader but I also asked her about a pixie cut and she said I could carry it off and that the type of fringe that would involve would prob look alright

My main concern with such a cut is that I have quite a big face and it might highlight that unflatteringly.

It looks great!!! I'm glad mopshots was able to provide the inspiration you needed!

In this picture I don't think it makes your face look big, but if you are feeling that way I suggest playing around with adding some volume at the roots. I've found that taking a minute to massage some volumizing foam or tonic into the roots and then using a brush to fluff my hair up a bit so that it doesn't air dry flat against my head can make a huge difference.

Looks lovely on you! Hope it's easy to style. If not, I'd recommend running a flat iron through it (make sure you use a heat styling product to keep your hair from burning/drying out). It's really easy and quick to use in short hair.

i know you have actually sported a pixie before as you stated, not everyone of us who zealously suggests a pixie would actually wear it Although I am sure you looked adorable with that cut as well.

Well you caught me Taylor BUT I like suggesting pixies to everyone and anyone who can wear them BECAUSE I can't wear one myself! I have a long face, very large features, and kind of a fleshy chin line which warrants a bit of coverage. I'd LOVE to have a fuss-free, spunky little pixie do and envy anyone who can pull it off (and I think Anne could...but I like this style too).

Ha, Maya not singling anyone on the forum out...just people in general...I am included in recommending Pixies to clients i think would look fab in them , however I myself am not a candidate either...although I would love to have a fuss free wash and wear do:)
