Yesterday I saw in the mirror real proof of two small spots where my scalp can be seen. I'm embarrassed to be going to the stylist until hair comes back in there

These are both nice, Nancy. But would you plan to blow-dry and straighten your hair if you had yours cut like this?

I'm not sure that these would work with your hair texture. That being said I'd go the hairdresser sooner than later. A good haircut can work with your existing deficiencies.

Hmm, I think it's really hard to tell how those styles would look if you let your hair dry in your natural curls.

I agree with Anna. I think you need to find a really good hairdresser who will work with your hair with all it's pros and cons.

If you're planning to leave your hair curly I think you need to find some inspiration pictures with curls more like yours.

I love something like Aida's cut for your gorgeous curls Nancy. You have beautiful curls and IMO, it would be a shame to try and blow them straight.

I'm with Anna about going to the stylist sooner. Let them work a little "magic".

Both very cute, but I know zip about hair. Maybe set up a consultation day with your hairdresser and have her/him eliminate ones that won't work with your hair type?

Thanks for the sage advice, everyone. If only I had curls! Right now there's hardly any curl or wave. It's just poufing out at the bottom like a triangle.

I'll try and find more curly or wavy pics.

Nancy I think it is great to find pictures to help your stylist understand the vibe you are going for, but the most important thing is to find someone who will listen to you, and take your unique hair, face and personality into account. Have you found someone?

I really like those, but I agree with the idea to find some pictures that seem to have more of a similar texture to the hair you have now. Although I did that and then ended up getting mine straightened!

Good luck! A great stylist will get you looking and feeling fab soon!

I just wanted to reiterate what Adelfa said - avoiding the hairdresser because of some thin hair spots is like avoiding the doctor when you're sick, they're there to help so let them! I can't wait to see pics of your new 'do!

Mochi, I am clueless when it comes to hair styles. But I have had hair loss. I had two bouts, mostly occurring in 2011. I was concerned because my thin hair was feeling even thinner than usual. However, the hair has, for the most part, grown back. And, it has stopped falling out. So don't despair too much, it does grow back!

And if it helps, here are some close ups of three of my angled bob cuts I've had done. #1 is the initial cut; #2-3 is the second update with longer more shaggy/uneven ends; and #4 is the most recent which is similar to the first one but with MUCH shorter layers around the crown to give it a rounder look. My hair is actually quite fine and also thin (and thinning), so most of the work and time I spend on my hair is to give the illusion of volume.

Thank you again, all. Aida...WOW. Thanks for all that gorgeous inspiration (your own cut especially). Your pic is almost definitely going to meet the curly girl stylist. He's cute and talented (there may even be giant birthday cupcakes being shared around, like last time). He will be able to resuscitate any curls.
