Haircut advice! Have we had enough just yet?! :D

It's my turn! And my haircut is due for about 7 months now! o_O. I have an appointment this Saturday hopefully! And I am panicking! I was supposed to retain my long hair for another 3 months (until my bro's wedding which involves traditional Indian wear) but I am due for a trim. I have a feeling I am going the Bob route 3 months in advance because I just can't wait to see how it looks on me! Please someone talk me down or tell me the shorter hair do will still be good!

For the whole of my life I have had loooooong hair. I can't wait to change that up. And which is why the sudden panic! Do you think it would be a good idea? I feel if I don't cut now I am never going to!

I have attached my profile pic and my inspiration pic. Do you think these would suit me? I think I'll just stop rambling now.

Ooh, I think the inspiration pics would look fantastic on you and could still see it working well with traditional Indian garb.

I really like your inspiration pictures! But didn't you mention wanting to try a pixie? If you need to keep your length for now what about getting the long, asymmetric layers around your face for now and then going short later?

I actually love the contrast of edgy hair with my Indian clothes, although I have had hair to my waist in the past. Chop it and donate - we have the best hair for wigs.

Emily - the pixie plunge is a bit scary just yet! I thought I would go Bob first and then pixie. Baby steps

I had something similar I guess with layers and side swept bangs previously. It looks nothing like that now though! Hair is 99% in a pony tail.

OK for fun sake ... Do you guys think a pixie would suit me? DH says no way! I am definitely considering it in a few months (or may be a year or two :D) down the line!

Una, my mum would be flabbergasted I chopped my locks! Lol! I have had ahem .... Butt length hair!

I think the inspirations you have selected will feel fresh and modern - but not as extreme as a pixie.

You mean that first pic is not close enough? Mmmm .... I'll have to get to that tomorrow morning. Will try and post a closeup straight faced pic.

My mother freaked out when I cut my hair, and she nagged me until it was longer again - :p

I think you would look beautiful in a pixie -- or any style, for that matter! I like Emily's idea of retaining length until after the wedding and then doing what you want with it! You can cut some layers in, in the meantime.

But if you have had very long hair all your life, a pixie is a scary thing to contemplate. And the people in your life will definitely have "opinions."

I like your inspiration photos. I would go for one of those, or would try Emily's suggestion. I would really hesitate to get a pixie if hubby is 100% against it. I wouldn't go that short myself since my hubby truly hates short hair on women. He's a pretty laid back guy but has a thing about short hair... so I'm happy to be accommodating on that one issue about which he feels strongly. Just something to consider.

I really like your inspiration bobs. My guess is they could work really well for you. Maybe for the wedding you can use some hair pieces to do a bun or something?

Qfbrenda- DH loves girls in short hair! But he thinks it won't suit me. I think it would, but I am not sure if I can carry it off with confidence. But I want to try anyway!

Scarlet - I think I can get away with a longer Bob. It won't look that bad with Indian clothes I guess!

The right pixie would be amazing with your eyes!

But the right long bob will be great, too. Even that kind of change will get you plenty of "opinions" as Suz says; only you can decide if you're up for hearing a whole lot of those at your brother's wedding.

I would start with the bob--shorter hair needs more frequent cuts anyway, so you can always move to the pixie later if you want!

I think you can be very versatile with your hair style - I'd start with a longer bob (like pic 3) and have fun with gradually moving shorter. I seem to remember Rae doing something similar when she went from long to short. Nice to experiment with the different stages and see what suits you best.

I think the inspiration cut would look super on you but I am very partial to short hair. Mine is actually shorter than Angie's. (I use a number 2 clipper guard in the back and sides of my hair!) but aside from that one thing I have found to be true is if you like the way you look in a ponytail or a twist then you will love having short hair. Both styles show off your face shape and draw attention to your neck and shoulders. So since you say that you are in a ponytail 99% of the time any way, IMO I say go for the cut you really want. If you find out at you really don't like it, it will grow back!
