OK, so everybody says it's high time I stop perming my hair. Got it. I just hope lairs will give it enough body. My hair is so flat and looks really thin without curl. Also, it won't hold curl for more than 15 minutes without a perm. So those are two other reasons I've kept it permed for so long.
I always let the old perm grow out first. That's why I let it grow to waist length. Then I have it chopped off to shoulder length and permed. So the hair that's getting permed has not been permed before. This time I'll try getting it cut without the perm. The worst that can happen is that it will look bad and I'll need to get a perm again later. I think I'll hold off on the coloring for now.
Maya, my hair is fuzzy weather I let it dry naturally or use a blow-dryer.
Nicole, it is good to hear that my hair texture could have changed by now. I certainly hope it has. I know it's still very fine, because ponytails always slide down my hair. All of the perm is bellow shoulder length, so cutting that off shouldn't make it too short. I like your idea of spending extra time with a stylist to discuss what I'm going for.
By "princess hair" I don't mean Disney princess; I mean something like Arwen in Lord of the Rings. Like this: http://www.lovelylivtyler.com/.....038;page=4
However, I'm probably still a bit too old to be going for that look, no matter how much my husband likes it.
Shiny, I've tried a flat iron and it doesn't help much, and like you said it is damaging in the long run. Thanks for the tip about the lotion. I haven't liked the de-frizzing product I tired, but I'll ask about other ones. The one I tired just made my hair look flat and oily on top and frizzy at the ends, which is how it already looks. So the product just made my problems worse.
Dani, I like the idea of setting up a consultation first. I actually have a couple of stylists I'm considering. Hopefully there is a product that will help solve my frizz problem.
Anna, your right about there being an idea length. I'd go so far as to say there is probably and ideal length for each person, and that that changes with age. Just like long fingernails, there is a point when long hair can become extreme and ridiculous.
Thanks again ladies. In conclusion, I will probably get my hair cut shoulder length with lairs. Someday I may do color, but not this time around. And I'll be sure to take before and after pictures.
