Hair - should I cut it again?

I'm getting bored with my hair and considering cutting it into a long bob. I've had this type of cut before. I've compiled three pics; an old one with the bob, and two current - one with curly hair and one with it blown out.

Should I cut it?

Yes, why not? It looks cute shorter, and it sounds like you are itching for a change...plus, your hair will grow and replenish itself, probably a healthy thing to do every now and then. And summer is coming, another reason for a fresh, shorter look.

You don't think it's a bit...Cleopatra? I'm wondering if it's a bit too severe with a blunt cut and if I should get something more layered.

I like your hair the way it is now! But a few inches won't hurt if you need a little change.

I prefer the softer, less Cleopatra look of the current styles, either curly or blown out.

Love, love, love the bob - what about something a little more angled this time? (A toned-down Chinese bob) Does your hair verge on wavy or straight? If it has wavy tendencies keep away from layered! It makes it so much more difficult to keep the waves under control. Oh, enjoy it – it’s so nice to make a change to one's hair. I'm so jealous, have to grow mine for my wedding and I'm itching for a cut (it’s at that no style “uhh”-phase). Please post photos of the end result!

Go for the long bob! I like Suzanne's suggestion of a slightly angled bob, maybe even an inch or two above what you had last time. You could wear it curly or straight too. I made a move similar to this in January and haven't regretted it. Your long hair is pretty but there's nothing like a shorter cut for a style boost.

I am personally not a big fan of very blunt cuts. They tend to just look too heavy and severe for my taste. Just a small amount of soft layers through the ends would help a lot in terms of taking the bulk out while still maintaining the same vibe. Maybe texturizing the bangs more would help too.

I like #1 best. Maya's suggestion of texturizing layers is a good one if it feels too severe to you.

Jenava I think you look lovely in all three pics - love the curly one!
Like others have said - it will grow again and it's really about what you want to do.
Long hair requires more time - washing & drying etc. But if your curly hair pic was simply wash and let air dry I'd say keep it cause you look so lovely with it that way.

Isis, you are cracking me up. OK, ok. I will see what Mr. Magic Scissors can do. I have a hair appointment (with Robert at Bowie Salon - highly recommend) on the 28th. He has been with me through long and short, red and brown, etc. He has excellent taste in hair, so I'm sure he'll have fantastic ideas to perfect the cut to my liking. If I take the plunge I'll post piccies. (-:

And I would most definitely wear it both curly and straight, because my hair curls naturally and when I'm in a hurry it's a nice option to have. The only think I did in the curly pic was put some mousse in it...

But, it must be long enough for a decent ponytail.

J- your hair looks great in your post from a month back! I think it wasn't really a bob, but you can definitely see how fab a layered bob would be. Not sure what would happen with curls though. Sounds like you are in the hands of a trusted stylist....can't wait to see your pics with your new cut!

Yes, he cut in quite a few short layers all around my head, so when my hair drapes over my shoulder like that it looks shorter. The novelty of the long hair has worn off, but it takes so much more maintenance to keep a bob looking good that I do hesitate a little. But it would be fun at least for the summer...now that I'm done with school I have more time for things like hair appointments (if less MONEY for them!).
