Several people complimented me on my hair in an outfit post today, and I appreciate that, especially as I am overdue for a trim and am feeling a bit shaggy.

Question for the hive:

Do I get just a small trim, keeping it on the longer side overall? (pic 1)
or
Do I cut it shorter (especially bang area) like I had for the wedding this summer? (pic 2)

You wear BOTH styles very well. Personally, I think #2 looks a little more sassy, crisp, polished and chic.

That said, you've been feeling like you want to grow your hair out a little for a while, so maybe have the small trim. You can always go shorter for Summer.

I kind of love #2 as well, but as Angie says, if you've wanted to grow it out a little, just do a small trim - you could play around with some waves or something if you're feeling like a change?

Both are lovely,l like the volume on top of #1,perhaps if you felt it needed tidying you could leave a bit more on top and get the sides trimmed?

I like #2 - short in back and on the sides, but the long fringe in #1. Maybe a mix of both?

You can wear both - but now is the time to experiment with a slightly longer style if you feel like it as it is longer.

I am one of those that complimented your hair in that post before seeing this but I love the shorter style. It was mainly the color and shine that wowed me, which applies to either style.

You look wonderful in both pics. Maybe a bit of a compromise? Try growing out the front, side sweeping bangs a bit longer, but go shorter on the sides and in the back.....maybe a bit asymmetrical, perhaps stacked in the back. Try it for a couple of months to see how you like it. You can always go shorter again, if you don’t care for it or styling it takes more time than you want. Please share pics!

I like both. If you want to go long, why not get the short cut just a couple more times and then grow it out over the winter? Between now and summer isn't much time. If your last short cut is in August or Sept, you could probably get it to a short bob before next summer.

I have a similar dilemma sometimes because I often like a “ stage” of my short haircut when the front is just almost needing trim because it is softer with no hint of “ Buster Brown “ ( you don’t have that problem).
I am like others that some in- between style with some more sharpness than #1 but not as short- pixie as #2, might be fun and if you didn’t like it you could grow out / even it up easily. I like # 2 better of the 2 shown , but might be your fab expression!

I'm leaning toward keeping it close to #1 for now - I might as well ride the longer fringe for a while longer. Irinia and Lisap, I like the idea of preserving a little edge (although I would need the shorter cut to try Lisap's faux hawk, and I am sorely tempted.) As Angie said, I can always cut it short for the summer (and probably will).

Unfrumped, this is one of my favorite pictures of me EVER. And so, of course, it sets a high standard that I never meet IRL!!!! But it's fun to look at.

I like them both, it's hard to pick. Could you leave the bangs longer and sometimes sweep them to the side? That might get the effect from #2 without them being shorter. I do like how #2 highlights your face - very flattering.

I say just a trim since you are liking the length and can always cut shorter. I’m in the same boat - had a pretty short pixie for the past 6 years and decided to try something different since I ended up going for 10 weeks without a cut. I’m aimimg for a short bob just to try something new. I’ll probably go back to the pixie at some point.

I would go for just a slight trim and see how you feel with it growing out a bit more. I really like the longer bangs on you, although I think you look great either way.

You look great both ways. I kind of prefer 2, but it may be just a little better photo. My vote is to go for a small trim, to try a little different style. As others have said it's easy to go back to shorter.

super late...you'd rock either look. i've attached a bunch of inspo photos of short hairstyles that i've been working through in the past 18 months. maybe one of them speaks to you?

i currently have #11 which grew out to #5.
