I've been thinking about cutting my hair quite short for sometime now. I should say shorter - as it's already reasonably short I was growing it out into a bob. My hair ended up short by accident last year, when an over eager stylist cut my then bob too short and made me look like a domantrix - so I had to go shorter to get rid of an unflattering cut. Strangely enough after the shock wore off, I decided I rather liked having short hair as it's so damn easy to look after.

I'd pretty much without question started to grow it out again - but I've discovered that I am, at heart a short haired girl. I keep telling whoever is doing my hair to taper it into the back, or whatever. My hair is sort of approaching a pseudo bob at the moment and the growing out process is driving me nuts already.

Thing is I really like the current pixie look. I'm in my early forties with a long, but wideish sort of face and I wear glasses. I keep reading articles that it's only a cut for the young, or those with heart shaped faces. Then I read an article about women from 13 - 60 who had their hair chopped into a pixie and they all looked incredible.

Michelle Williams has a little bit of a wide face, but again it looks great on her. I'm thinking I could get away with longer layers on top. But I'm wary in case it makes me look butch. Yet it's only hair and it grows. What's your take on the whole pixie and should woman beyond a certain age not have it done?

Annie.
