its a little off the topic discussion.. here's my dilemma of years:
I want the perfect red hair color every once in a while.. never dared getting one..

here's the background.
- I am a 20 something Indian (as in Asian Indian the DOT not the feather
- my natural hair color is dark brown / black
- my skin tone is olive / pale lighter brown .. lack of better words
- eye color is medium brown
- currently have shoulder length hair

i know it makes it tricky.. so i want very honest opinions..

I love the red Kari has.. thats what i will call perfect red.. but i know thats not the one for me..

I do not want burgundy or purple hues..

I will be happy with Cinnaberry .. copper reddish brown.. more on red than brown.. Like a Julianne Moore RED

Poppy, I am so flattered. My hair color is not real - naturally my hair color is a mousy medium brown (I think - I haven't really seen it since my teens.) I dye it with this color. But it does have more of a burgundy hue. It's also meant for a darker natural color than mine is, though it fades pretty well.

I love your natural color on you, but you also carry off the auburn color well in #3!

I'm curious about whether that haircut would work better for you because of your wavy hair texture - hopefully one of the hair pros will step in and provide advice for you!

You must first lift and then deposit. In other words this process will need a professional and may take several stages,
Your hair is VERY dark, You must first lift this to the right level so that when you deposit the new color you will be able to see it...You cannot see the red Julianne Moore on your current color...it wont show. the problem with lifting hair this shade is that it want to pull orange and red...and not the right orange and reds.. This is a several step process for you,
Seek a color professional who is experienced in lifting dark hair...it is tricky (I also have very dark hair). No doubt obtaining the right color would be flattering on you...getting there successfully is another thing. Remember Julianne Moore is very light complected and is probably coloring her hair a darker and much more vibrant red that her natural color. #3 is a good shot at it:)

@ Taylor .. cool thats was some Pro information .. Thanks much.. lets see .. i am not in a hurry .. yeah i liked # 3 .. wud love if it was a shade lighter towards orange red

# 3 was strawberry blond + Medium Auburn .. it still showed up that dark on me.. so i am not hoping for a miracle
