hair advice please!

I'm in the process of growing my hair out, and am thinking it's time for a trim to keep it looking polished even though I'm not a fan of the current length. Should I wait a bit longer? Should I just get a small all-around trim? Is there a better style for me to have while it's growing out?

I would wait a bit Kate, the ends still look very clean to me.:)
I am growing my hair out too...gritting my teeth ugh, the worst !

It depends on what style you have in mind at the end. Most women complain that their hair grows too slow, most of them trim too often. To me your hair looks like it's in good condition so no need to trim.
If your future style would be layered then you could easily do some layering now.

Kate, I would leave it and let it continue growing. Can you scrunch it and put some waves/curls in it? That might take up some of the length? Not sure if your hair holds curls or not.

Do you plan to have a layered hairstyle at some point? I think it's something to consider because to my eye it looks quite heavy at the ends and just seems weighed down.

Whenever I grow out my hair, I always ask to keep the length but go every few months to get the layers cleaned up. I find it makes the process go much more smoothly without taking away the length.

I agree with waiting.

My hair has grown incredibly fast and I get a straight across even trim once every 4-6 months. My hairdresser told me that FOR ME it was better to keep it as a blunt cut seeing that I wanted grow it all the same length, no layering so she barely trimmed the shorter hair that framed my face. I did have some kinda layering in the past and wanted to grow it out.

Maya, it's actually super layered at the ends. But at this length it just makes the ends look more curled under than they are - where the curve under starts is where the layers start. My hair is so straight that layers work more to shape the bottom of the haircut than to actually look layered - when I've had more than a couple inches between the shortest layers and the longest part of my hair it ends up just making my hair look thinner and more straggly than it is, rather than looking obviously layered.

When my hair was longer, this was the picture that I would bring to my hair cuts. But without any highlights or wave to it, my hair just ended up looking thinner rather than layered.
