Thanks all for the comments. Opinion is a bit mixed which is actually good as I do like to mix it up a bit (I have had very short almost shaved hair and quite long hair, colours from almost platinum to more chestnut brown, and a few undercuts over the years too). So if I go shorter now I will likely go longer in a year or two, or vice versa. My sisters are the opposite and have had long hair pretty much all their lives.
My hair is a bit in between right now so growing it would be relatively simple, and personally I think it needs to be either shorter, or longer, and as Krishnidoux pointed out, hitting right on my jaw is not the best (thank you - I totally agree with your observations). I will mull it over until next Wednesday and come back to you with a pic of my decision.
Sterling - yay, a hair refresh makes a big difference, I hope it works for you. I am sure it will and it makes such a difference!!
Jenni - thanks - I agree that pic was just before a colour and it shows I am actually quite brunette.... I love 1 and used that for my inspo pic when I went shorter in late April 2016 but it has crept longer again without me intending to do so.
Thanks Rachy and Angie - I have a cowlick so my hair is always asymmetrical to a degree, and I agree that I could play on this more. It is balancing it with the colour as my roots are quite dark and I do prefer a natural look (but use unnatural means to get there haha)
Thanks Fashintern, good to hear I am not the only one who resists too much blow drying.
Krishnidoux - you see what I do!! Of the images you shared I like 2 and 4 the best and see myself more in 4. Thanks for the really careful response and your reasoning behind it - I want to give you a thumbs up. I have a relatively short neck, square shoulders and a significant bust so I think short hair makes me feel lighter and taller - when it gets too long it all gets a bit much around the neck and shoulders and jaw.
La P - my hair is quite short (sometimes clipped) at the nape. That can be quite dark whereas the coloured bit can get quite blonde.. especially in the summer.
Thanks Christina and TexStyle - I love the soft bobs too - so I might go back there. Appreciate the feedback.
Zaeobi - thank you. Yes I could encourage the wave more and I have done this in the past. I love your wavy bob a lot. It has been a while since I wore headscarves, wraps etc and I would have to experiment a bit to see how I would feel. I love them on others but can feel as though it is too much on me.
Thanks Juniper Green- I could experiment with products - that is a great idea. Thanks for the recommendations too.
Bella and The Cat - that photo was taken after a trip to the hairdresser so it is a little more polished than normal. But I can do close to this relatively easier - thanks for the nice comments.
Thanks Brooklyn - it would be easy to go longer from where I am at now. Your length is great because it can be tied up at home or walking with a cap on. Assymetric is easier than symmetric with my cowlicks.
Karen - I adore pixie cuts but they are not for me. Growing them out is a challenge - I think it is easier to keep the back very short and grow out the front and top and then start growing the back. It takes a while but looks better along the way.
Shevia - thank you. You have the best assymetric hair!!
Chiara - another vote for short, thanks for the feedback.
Joy - I love that cut too!!
Style Fan and Gigi - another vote for longer, interesting!! I did like it longer but fell in love with Jed's hair from The Night Manager (but not her dodgy Hugh Lawrie boyfriend) and went short for a change.
Thanks all.... I really appreciate all the careful and kind comments. I will add that obviously these are chosen pics of me so there are plenty where the hair looks awful especially the very candid ones.... They are not photoshopped however..
