Hackers! Where would you hack these?

I will post pics of me in them later. Here are the store shots. I am neither 6 feet tall nor will I be wearing 3+inch heels with these babies.

I was thinking of having them 1) shortened to touch the ground, and 2) the bell taken in a bit to make straight legs. Thoughts?

I added pic #4 because Bergdorf's actually USED this photo to sell these jeans. Way to go, B-G. Because every woman wants a pair of jeans that emphasizes her saddlebags.

Don't taper the flare. I love the cut as is. I would hem as you described.

IK, the funny thing is my first thought on seeing the pics was "Hey, the model's skinny and even she has saddlebags. Makes me feel better." So I'm glad B-G used that photo.

I vote for keeping the flare while shortening, too.

OK, this is a stupid question but I've googled saddlebags and I've never been able to figure it out. What is the difference between saddlebags and fat on your hips? For example, if a hip measurement is around the "widest part of your hips and rear", would that include saddlebags if applicable?

If someone could draw a line on #4 indicating where the hips are, that would be immensely helpful. I'm a rectangle figure and have never been able to figure out where to measure my hips, as I do have plenty of flesh on my thighs and butt.

To be actually on topic--I love the flare leg as long as you're planning to wear some sort of heel (not necessarily 3") with the jeans.

KL - Hips are where the hipbones are - in this case, right above the tops of the pockets. Saddlebags are right about where the leg bones fit into the lower pelvis. If this lady were wearing briefs or "granny" panties, not jeans, the hips would be where the waistband is, and the saddlebags would be underneath the outer edge of the leg holes. If that makes sense.

Short answer is, fat on hips is higher up than the bulges on the outer thighs we call saddlebags.

And Yes, I will be wearing these with heels, but sometimes flares are too flappy! I'll trim them and see how they feel I guess.
