Ruth, that is so true! I had to wear uniforms in middle school, but it was such a joke, because parents had the option to waive that requirement. All the cool kids got to wear normal clothes - so much worse and more marked than the usual "designer divide" in terms of creating an equal field. Those of us in uniforms rebelled by wearing such ridiculous things on our shoes, backpacks, heads, etc.
As for the smuggling... I think they should just up the punishment for smuggling. *shrug* Still, I'll be happy to see less house slippers with mini skirts.
