I don't have a problem with it in general. Now, I'm not sure how I feel about these newsanchor dudes who put on a pair just for whatever reason they come up with and parade around their morning show on camera in stilettos with their suits on,

But guys who just want to wear women's clothes or shoes don't bother me a bit. You do you!

When an outfit is done "right" I think anyone can wear anything. I recently saw that one of the cosmetic companies has their first male make-up model and he looks lovely.

If you do it like Mozart, fantastic. If you do like Harry Conick Jr. - stilettos and Victoria Secret cardboard Angel Wings - stoopid. I mean, even the women look stoopid. Cheesy is cheesy.

I don't care for high heels on anyone, actually, but I will defend your right/anyone's right to wear whatever they like. Why not if it makes you happy?! Go for it.
Related: I saw a lot of men wearing (practical, masculine) skirts at Burning Man. Kind of cargo skirts. OK, no surprise, that's Burning Man. But in the last month I've seen at least 3 men in regular life (like at Trader Joes and at Peet's Coffee) wearing the same style. So...skirts for men may be trending?

I couldn't agree with Lisa and Rachy more. The gender of the person doesn't really matter, it is how the look is put together. And who did it better than Prince ? ; )

I don't think much is taboo any more in the fashion world. Of course, I guess it depends on your milieu. Some places are more welcoming of these things than others. I have to say, though, that I've always felt that one of the advantages of being a man is NOT having to wear high heels. But that's just a personal opinion, please wear whatever you love!

The environment you wear the heels really matters. It is not unusual to see guys in high heels in San Francisco but not so much in Billings, Montana.

Clara, I once worked with a guy (we were stagehands) who was this big, rugges, tattooed, gruff looking dude. He sometimes wore a kilt to work. Kind of badass in a very good way. He didn't wear it when there was a chance he would be in the rafters rigging the stuff that hangs in the air during a concert, thank heaven, but nobody ever said anything untoward about it. I haven't seen him in a few years (I had to retire from the business for health reasons) but I bet he still wears it regularly. In Shreveport, of all places.

So yeah, skirts on dudes, heels on dudes, no problem in a lot of places.

If you want to then go for it. Deb is right though. I don't know Billings, Montana but I might suggest not there. San Francisco would be no problem.

But the hills of SF are NOT heels friendly. And don't jump from stages while wearing heels. That led to Prince's injuries and addiction to pain meds.

Wear what you love. Although I must admit, when I wear heels, it is mainly for sitting down, because they are far less fun to walk, much less dance in! They do make you feel glam though, so go for it.

i think guys wearing heels (other than men's boots, but I don't think that's what the original question was referring to) is weird. I don't hate anyone, I would never treat someone differently because they wear things I think are odd, but I think that guys wearing women's clothes is weird. Since you asked.

I think we live in an age where ig3 you feel comfortable and confident in it you can rock it. I know a couple of men who can rock stilettos and dance in them. I'm in awe of them. For myself i like a very chunky heel. I have wide larve fussy feet so yeah.

I also like those utility kilts there is a gentleman and my university that wears one everyday.

Oscar do you have a style or type of heel in mind.

I'm sure it depends on where you are. In New York City, at least when we lived in Chelsea, it wasn't unusual to see men on the street in heels (although honestly not that many people of either sex wear extreme heels in NYC -- it's just not practical with all the walking people do.) Men or women in heels were either dressed for something, such as a costume event or a photo shoot, or they were from out of town and didn't realize what a problem those heels would become on the streets.

Now, if you took a short subway ride down to the financial district, those heels would have stood out like a sore thumb.

Context is everything.

Guys wearing high heels is actually a non-issue, because fashion has already acknowledged men have been capable of wearing them. In fact men use to be the dominant wearers and women wanted to wear them to be seen as more manly. Then social attitudes were swayed when men had to work long hours in the factories and the use of heels was not practical and the so-called enlightened ones thought that high heels were unusable for the regular attire of that era. So wearing high heels by anyone went underground. When photography revealed some scantily clad women wearing heels in pictures came into the public awareness, the practice was at least noted. Meanwhile, an American, brothel proprietor (Madam Kathy), noted that business boomed after a French woman who wore high heels was hired. So she ordered heels for all female employees. The patrons took notice and ordered the same French heels for their wives. The subsequent happenings led society to proclaim women were the only ones that wanted to wear heels, but then men were noticed or caught expressing the desire to accent their appearance with heels. People, familiar only with the present fashion attitude, were surprised and then enraged to think men wanted to wear women's footwear. So guys in high heels have to deal with the perception that they are women wannabes and have defiled their manhood. Personally, I have only considered high heels as another type of footwear to be chosen like any other item of apparel. Nature set up individuality to function in this manner. We are to choose our attire by the personality taste we have, but society has usurped this right and has dictated its will as to what a person should adorn with. So how is this any different then me making my neighbor wear what I want them too?
