Gulp. Just Bought Something Full-Price

I never buy full price. Ever. Unless it's Target, 'cause we all know that their sales are lame anyway. Maybe it's the result of years of Kohl's shopping, where you learn quickly that they're not serious until they've discounted an item by 40%, plus a 30% scratch off and $10 in Kohl's cash! (lol).

Anyway, I ordered the Olivia Moon blazer pictured below after trying on the green in the store. Part of my new plan is to buy what "works" and not just what is cheap. The ponte fabric is perfect for my lifestyle, the lighter weight and 3/4 sleeves are great for my my hot-bloodedness!

Now, I'm still on a very tight budget, so I'll be scoping out Goodwill and hoarding my Kohl's cash, but I'm going to occasionally choose to get the best thing when I see it.

Gorgeous! I'm like you, I buy mostly on sale and I track and stalk things I want until they are down to what I consider a reasonable and appropriate price:). But sometimes it's worth buying an item at full price when you know it's going to be value for money. Great choice, you will wear this to death and look stunning doing so:)

Beth Ann I think you'll like this. I have this jacket in blue, camel, and kelly green and have worn them all to death (I think I bought one of them full price and the rest at the Rack), definitely worth it for me on a CPW. It is a nice weight ponte and the fit is good. It does eventually pill a little, but thanks to Rae I tried the razor on it and it worked great.

The jacket looks great! Smart idea to buy that one perfect item at full price. You can also keep an eye out for any price changes in the next 2-3 weeks and ask for a price adjustment if it goes on sale.

I understand how that's a big step, being a bargain hunter myself. I hope it brings you all kinds of closet joy! (and I plan to do a percentage of full retail price shopping myself in the coming year. I think there is a happy balance to be had for us budget babes.)

Being super cheap, I understand the "gulp". But you are right about it being worth the money for quality pieces that you will wear a lot, especially when they are hard to find. I will pay full price for shoes and boots, because finding good ones is difficult with my weird feet, and cheap shoes are not worth the pain. Sometimes full price is so worth it, no matter how cheap we are.

And that is a lovely jacket.

Nice jacket. And you well wear it so much more than some overly-warm boxy thing that was 70% off! Shopping at Kohl's is a little like playing Monopoly, right? It sounds like you have is all figured out girlfriend!

Oh I hear you about paying full price! Part of the problem is the constant "threat" of sales. It bugs me when something I've paif full price goes on sale a few weeks later.
However, I do find that my size disappears rather quickly, and it may be to my advantage to scoop it up.
Your jacket looks like a wonderful investment. I can see it working all throughout the year - paired with white skinnies/jeans in the summer- darker colours for the rest of the year. Congratulations on your purchase!

I think you're taking a very sensible approach.

FWIW, 90% of the purchasing mistakes I have made in the past are the result of falling for something that's on sale. It will be something that doesn't quite fit but I love the colour, or something that is unflattering but I convince myself that I can make it work, and look, it's 40% off! And most of the time, that thing becomes a closet orphan. When I buy full price, this rarely happens. I'm a lot more careful with full price items, for one thing, and also if, three days later, I have buyer's remorse, I can return it. Usually with sale items you can't. As a result, I have learned to steer clear of the sale racks -- I'm not a particularly savvy shopper, and for me they always lead to bad choices and disappointment.

Love the jacket. If the item is a ten to me, I dont mind paying full price. My size tends to sell out fast. If its a nine I try to hold out for a ten. I try to avoid the sales trap by passing on all the almosts and not quite rights.

BTW -- it's easier to spend real money at places with good service and return policies, such as Nordstrom's. They didn't have the blue in my size, but I ordered it at the counter from the SA, rather than online at home, because she had been so helpful to me in general. I got a lot of tips from her about Nordie's departments, and I put her on to YLF!

Great purchase! I am the same way as far as waiting for sales and hording my kohls cash. I think it is a smart move to jump at a purchase that is loved and will be worn often. I can't wait to see the jacket on you!
