Guessing game! Which dress did I buy?

As some of you know I have a ridonculous number of weddings to attend between June and October. Six, to be exact. They run the gamit from super casual to quite formal, and while I have a few dresses already, I wasn't hesitant to find an excuse for another formal option.

I went back and forth about these two dresses and finally made a decision today. Take a guess which one won the battle! You can also state which one you're rooting for. I'll reveal all quite soon and then seek accessory advice.

1. Blue and purple sheath with ruffles
2. Satin a-line floral

If we were voting, I'd vote for #1... very flattering. I do know that #2 was not your size, but even so, the cut of #1 is very very nice on you.

Hmmm, this is tricky as they both look fab, but quite different.
Given your recent love of the fit and flare dress that Angie found, I'm going to guess the satin a-line floral. BUT that is also the very reason you could have gone with the very different silhouette of the sheath dress.
I am surprised/impressed you didn't buy both, actually!
I'm sticking with my original guess but look forward to hearing what you purchased so we can talk accessories!

Holy moly, Michelle! I loved #2 on you before even though it was the wrong size, and I still do, but #1 is SMOKING! Girl, you look fantastic in it. I am not going to play by the rules and instead say you need to have BOTH.

If you guessed dress number, 1, congratulations!! It's hanging in my closet right now, and I'm really, really happy about it.
The fact is that I tried it on last week at the same time as I tried dress no. 2. I took a pic of it on my phone but dismissed it, for whatever reason, despite Rina (the store owner's) protests that it was even nicer looking. Today, while discussing wedding wardrobes with my friend Diana at work, she gave a nod of approval to the satin flare dress but then proceeded to flip out over the sheath. I considered it again and got to thinking that the sheath sounded more sophisticated and may be worth a look. I sought some other opinions that enthusiastically backed Rina and Diana...so I went back to the store, and low and behold, they were totally right. Dress no. 1 is actually better made, and apart from some alterations at the top fit me better off the hanger. It passed the sitdown test, and it was ready to come home with me. I also got to thinking that the less contrast-y colour pallett, along with the splashes of black, would make it appropriate for occasions beyond the summer. Thoughts on that?

Now, to accessories. The aforementioned splashes of black make me question whether I can go with my usual much-loves silver accessories. Are they still ok for summer weddings, or should I rethink this? I suspect my tripple strand of champagne pearls will stil lfit the bill, but do I now need to introduce black into the mix or can I save that for winter functions?

The colors of the blue ruffle dress are really special and tres flattering. I prefer it overall, anyway, but the colors are so beautiful that it elevates the entire ensemble to another level. I see no reason that black needs to be part of the mix and would keep the accessories relatively simple. Let the dress, and beautiful you, be the stars of the show. Silver accessories feel right. Champagne pearls would be a good option, too. While the rest of us are in a barren dress desert, Michelle has landed squarely in a full-on oasis. Good for you! I love dresses.

Oh, I didn't get to vote, but I would've picked #1, so still okay! That sheath is very flattering and more sophisticated, you are right. I was going to say more grown-up, but don't want to offend, not knowing how old you are or how you feel about that.

Silver jewelry wuld look great - maybe a heavier chain/pendant within your neckline. How about this pendant on a nice shiny chain?

Wow! I missed voting, but did you ever make a great choice! I loved the other dress, too (and secretly hope you will find a reason to go back and get it) but this one is, if possible, even better! VERY flattering!

Black accessories would look nice but I don't think they are necessary. How about snapping a pic with the ones you had in mind and we can consider? Silver could look good, I suspect!

Michelle, I was late for the game but I am glad you bought the first dress- it is amazing on you. Silver accessories should look great with this dress - black is too predictable and less interesting.

Thanks, ladies!! New accessories are definitely not on the horizon. I've blown the budget on this dress and the cotton flared one, and while I'm sure both will be great purchases, it must stop here. If you think silver and pearl will work, I'll stick with that!
For some of you wordsmiths out there, could you take a run at describing the pattern your way? You ladies have a way of describing design and colour combos that exceed most of what I come across.

It reminds me of a Monet watercolor. A vibrant, rich, cobalt-ish blue backdrop, with splashes of lavender that evokes images of perhaps, flowers, or, I daresay, a water lily? The pattern is not literal. It is soft and flowing. Pops of black, and even turquoise blue, also look as though they were brushed on with a gentle but deft stroke. A true work of art. Very sophisticated. Understated, but also bold in it's vibrancy,

So happy you bought dress 1, it's beautiful and the print completely evokes memories of holidays past, sitting on a balcony, the sun sets turning the sea the most gorgeous shade of deep blue and the smell of exotic flowers fills the air.

Michelle, I see no reason why this should not be a four season dress, the only problem I can foresee is how a jacket will lay over the ruffle of the neckline.

With regards to accessories, I think less is more with this dress. Your silver accessories will look great as will black and cream. If you are lucky enough to have some sapphires in your jewellery wardrobe they would look terrific too.

Michelle, I can't tell you just how gorgeous that first dress looks on you. The colors are really beyond gorgeous, and the cut is just about the most flattering thing I have ever seen you wear. You look really elegant, beautiful, and eye-catching. I agree that you could throw a jacket on over this dress (dark denim, or a black jacket), and be ready to go for fall or winter.

I'm late but want to say that the dress is perfect on you. Kyle did such a great job of describing it. It looks like pinkish lavendar poppies floating in a sapphire pool. It's a pattern that's both colorful and soothing. Your black or grey jacket will take it into fall. To be really colorful for summer I think you could wear your turquoise jacket with this dress if it isn't too long. Your eggplant bolero could also work, the color blending with the blues and lavendar of the dress.

I LOVE the first dress on you. It is gorgeous and slimming. I would go with black accessories here. I don't think the snake shoes go at all. Beautiful! Great choice!
