Grudgingly Practical - YouLookFab Forum

My small clothing budget is shrinking, at least for the moment. It's currently so tight that it squeaks, and I know that many of you can relate. So, I'm having to reevaluate recent purchases, and I've decided to return both my cargo skinnies, and my peep toe booties pictured here: *SOB*

I tried the cargos on several times, and always felt as if they were about to fall off when I bent over- even when belted. I've tried on several other pairs at different stores (including the ones at Target), and all were cut as low in the back. Maybe I will eventually find a pair that is cut higher in my price range, but for now they are not practical. The shoes are just too high for my every day wear. I've been having a lot of joint issues, and the last thing that I need is to exacerbate them with high shoes. So, in the light of practicality and versatility, I am concentrating on finding flat oxfords and jeans to wear with them with the exchange money.

yay to getting clothes you can wear more frequently and feel comfortable in! it's a 10 not to expose one's crack to the world.

I think you're making a wise decision. I, too, am on a budget and feel the pressure to make every purchase count.

My amazing inlaws gifted us some money yesterday and now my clothing budget has opened up like a speedboat on a glassy stretch of water. But I'm still agonizing because spending too much makes me reach for the Prevacid.

I do understand, Khris. But look at it this way: if those pieces weren't all that wearable for you, you're much better off getting a few things you love AND will wear happily:)

I recently returned some great looking stuff that were not 10's in comfort or fit. I'm glad I did and you'll feel better after you get it back to the store. I think oxford and jeans are a smart decision.

Sounds like a smart decision to me. It doesn't sound like these items were "10's" and if it's not going to be a workhorse you love, on to more fab things.

It sounds like you made a wise decision. It's hard to hear the voice of reason when it goes against the emotional choice. Now you still have the fun of shopping for those items on your list.

I admire your dedication and discipline to stick with your budget. Nothing is so fab to go in debt over so you're making a wise choice. A fab new pair of jeans and oxford will serve you alot better. You're a great example to us

I'm sending you hugs for the second time Khris (the first went missing somewhere in the WWW), you know I understand your predicament. For what it's worth I do believe you are making the right decision, when on a tight budget you have to be EVEN more discerning with regards to the pieces you allow a home in your wardrobe. Even better things are waiting in your shopping cart.

You're an inspiration, Khris. And I feel your pain. I just returned my turquoise bag acquired at NAS because it was just slightly too large and square for my taste. At the price I paid, I felt I had to adore it, not just admire the craftsmanship and versatility. It still stung though!

Khris, I applaud you for your budget and lifestyle realism, and I'm sure you will get lots of enjoyment and use out of your "practical" items. I'm about two weeks away from transitioning to a much tighter budget, so I'll look up to you as my practicality role model.

No matter what your budget I think it's wise to buy clothes that fit and work perfectly for you. You're doing the right thing!

Such a shame Khris as they look gorgeous on you but you've done the right thing. I have to be realistic too about what I buy, I may see a lovely pair of tan strappy high heeled sandals that I love but if I am not going to get good wear out of them then I have to let them go. Breaks your heart somtimes being practical!
