Grey leather jacket replacement?

Last year I purged an old grey leather jacket that I never wore anymore because it was getting worn-looking and no longer reflected my current style, plus it was just a little bit big on me.

I've really been enjoying my white leather jacket as a black jacket alternative, and of course I still love my other jackets, but I am considering a replacement for the grey jacket, while grey seems to be trending. White is not always the right neutral for my F/W outfits. And for years, it was impossible to find a grey jacket.

I have these two under consideration. One (pics 1-4) is by Truth & Pride, via Nordstrom, and on significant sale. It's a moto style, and as we all know, motos fit well with my personal style, but I already have the moto silhouette covered, so even though I like this, I'm wondering if I should go for a different style.

The other (pics 5-8) is from NAS: the Hinge leather hoodie. I actually ordered it online in a M, then tried it on in store and thought the M was too snug across the shoulders and bought the L. Well, the M arrived at my house and it fits just fine, while the L that I bought just feels too large in comparison. I like that it's casual and a completely different style from my other jackets. I don't like the long fringey things hanging from the zipper pulls and would probably cut those off. As you can see, it's a darker grey than the moto. It's also about half the price of the T&P moto. I like that this style is a little longer and would be easier to layer underneath. The moto feels more limiting.

It was late and I was tired when I took these photos, so of course the jackets are not styled, but I think you can get the idea.

I'm not in any kind of hurry to replace the grey jacket, and in fact, I'm not certain I need to. However, I do have a bit of FOMO because I like wearing grey as an alternative to black, and it only seems to come back around very rarely. So I thought I'd put it up for your opinions. What do you think? I'm not even sure a replacement jacket would need to be leather, but we all know I love a leather jacket.

Yikes! I really like both! The hoodie looks like a more taupe grey on my monitor. That particular color would fit better with my F/W wardrobe. Does one color work better with your's?

Janet, I like both on you! Truthfully, the moto looks more "you," but that's perhaps just because I've seen you in them before. I like the length of it, and the fit is just perfect looking.
The hoody I've seen in person, though, too, and I really, really like it. I considered trying it on because I thought a leather hoodie would be a fun change. So I could see you getting it for something different.
I'm with Carter--the hoodie seems more brownish in color. Would one color work better than the other for your purposes?

Oh, and fwiw, I do think a gray leather jacket is more versatile than a gray fabric one. Unless you go with gray denim. I just think the leather works as a neutral better than a fabric does--with the fabric, I feel compelled to match it in an outfit, whereas I don't feel so compelled with leather or denim.

The jacket looks good and would be easier to dress up or down, and is more of a true gray on my monitor. The hoodie is fun and may be a direction you want to go but does not have the same polish. It looks quite brownish.
Are you aiming for indoor or outdoor wear? If indoor you might want an even lighter weight style than these.

The color of the hoodie is not as brown as it appears in the photos -- I guess the lighting is distorting it. I added it to my Finds below so you can see the stock photo. The color might be a little warmer than in the stock photo, but I would not call it brown. The color of the moto is cooler and lighter.

I would want this jacket to be useful as indoor and outdoor wear. This is actually where I feel like the hoodie has a bit of advantage -- it will function better as an outerwear piece because of the ability to layer under it. I also like that the hoodie is a little less precious and more casual, so I can knock around in it more, while still looking somewhat polished (as in, more polished than a beat-up denim jacket) -- the moto I'd be more concerned about damaging.

The moto is great, Janet, but, as you said, I think you probably have that covered. However, I love the hoodie on you! It's a different silhouette, it fits you well, and the color suits you. I think I actually prefer the color of the hoodie on you over the color of the moto.

Wow, the color is much different in the find. As you said, it does still have hint of brown, but it's decidedly grey. I think the hoodie may see a lot more wear. Plus, if you do add some brown to your F/W wardrobe (as you mentioned in my thread), the hoodie feels really right.

I like them both, but I find that the hoodie is slightly more flattering and I agree that it looks better for wearing in the house. Moto jackets do tend towards bulk/ stiffness.

I like the moto, but I have to say, now that I've been considering it in the context of my wardrobe, I am not so sure I want another leather moto. I almost hate to pass up a well-fitting, high-quality leather moto at a good price, but is it really the best addition to my wardrobe right now? Yikes, who have I become?

Oh boy, tough choice. I really like both, but the hoodie is more "unique", which is a nice feature. I think the colour difference is impt, they seem quite different tones, which one fits into your wardrobe better?

I like them both and I think they both fit you pretty well. IF I had to choose, it will be the hoodie, since it will provide a variety in silhouettes. Do you have to choose just one?

I actually prefer the hoodie, in terms of its shape and silhouette. Not usually a hoodie person, but I love the combo of clean lines and casual. Also, I find the pocket flap placement on the moto distracting. Could just be my simplicity groove speaking. Love the idea of gray leather topper!

My initial thought was the moto, but all the comments changed my mind! Especially yours, Janet -- that you don't want to pass up this item at a great price, but do you really need it?

I also have to add that I glossed over every single item that you've picked out from NAS...until I saw them on you!! The R&B jeans (front view, LOL), the Current/Elliot metallic top, and now this Hinge hoodie (I'd like the lighter color). It's not available in my size but now I'm stalking it.

Really, I haven't even NOTICED these things until I saw them on you, and now I wants them!

Janet they both look fantastic on you but I would be inclined to go with the hooded jacket. This one looks different to anything I recall you already owning and I love the fit, shape and the way it falls on you. I can also see it working well with your wardrobe.

I think I prefer the hoodie because this particular moto has sort of a "heavy" look to it, like it's weighing you down a little. Not sure why, maybe the embellishments, maybe the thickness of the leather. The hoodie looks fun and "now" to me.
