Have any of you seen Grey Gardens? I'm a little obsessed with it. I can't decide if it's Little Edie's fashion sense or the relationship between the Edies' that facinate me. I'm watching the DVD of Grey Gardens extra scenes. This one must have been remastered because the sound is so much better than the orginal. Check out the photo of my friends and I at our Grey Gardens costume party this winter.

Would you think less of me if I told you that I LOVE turbans? I'm not sure how to wear them now, but when I'm 70 I plan to be wearing one with a caftan by the pool and a drink.

I haven't seen Grey Gardens yet, but I'd like to.

I saw the documentary several years ago and found it riveting, but at times disturbing and heartbreaking. Seeing it again after watching the HBO version...Drew was brilliant as Little Edie...I wasn't so shocked as the first time. It's fascinating. It's easy to get obsessed. I can't help but think that Little Edie would be very pleased that she's become a style icon. There's actually another documentary now too, "The Beales of Grey Garden's" with footage that wasn't in the original "Grey Garden's". I watched them all. There are clips on YouTube, too. Judy, I too have seen both of the documentaries and the HBO movie. Last night I was watching "The Beales of Grey Garden's". The scene with the fire still terrifies me. The house itself is such an integral character. It's like a car accident that you cannot look away from. I too find it disturbing and haunting, yet riveting. I keep watching thinking that I'll find the missing piece of the puzzle. My favorite in the HBO movie was Jessica Lange--brilliant. And my favorite scene from the original--STAUNCH character. Oh, I love the staunch character bit!! That is so great. Did you notice her military garb? Looks like it's right off the current runways. She's a doll. Enjoy your obsession :). I felt like I learned a lot from watching those ladies!

I've seen the original documentary, years ago, and the HBO version. I agree with Judy; the Beales' story was riveting and heartbreaking.

On a superficial note, I really loved Drew Barrymore's makeup when she played the younger Edie and have been wondering how to duplicate the look myself. As I recall, she wore red lipstick with gorgeous gray and white eyeshadows.
