Greg - can't toggle between photos anymore?

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I don't have the option to go from one photo to the next in a thread anymore. I have to open one, then go back to the thread and open another, and so on. The 'next' and 'back' tabs on the sides of the pics are gone. Anyone else run into this?

No luck - must be just me. I did have an Adobe flash update today. Maybe it goofed stuff up. Drat!

I am using IE8 on Windows 7 and never had trouble before today. Hmmmm.

Mo, thanks for letting us know. I can see the problem on IE8 and I will investigate. In the meantime, if you do have Chrome, Safari or Firefox installed, you should use one of those.

BTW, there is also an issue on the other browsers where if you are VERY quick to click on the picture then it will view on a separate page instead of the nice popup viewer. This is because the popup viewer wasn't ready yet. Mo's IE issue is more serious. The popup window never loads.

It turns out that this is an issue with IE8 alone. The good news is that it is solved by the latest version of Internet Explorer, IE9. If you are using IE8, then there are many other good reasons to upgrade to IE9. YLF will look a little nicer, for one thing, because IE9 supports more of the design elements that I use.

Note, if you currently use Firefox, you might want to consider upgrading to the latest one there too, Firefox 4, because I hear that it is quite a bit faster.

Well, I upgraded to IE9 and now I can't open the picture unless I right click and choose an option. hmmmm

I even turned off my pop up blocker. Any suggestions?

Nancy, what exactly happens when you click the picture?

Also, do you have anything else installed in the browser that you know of?

Greg, nothing happens at all. Before, I could open but not toggle. Now nothing.

As far as anything else installed, not that I am aware of. I downloaded the IE9 and opted for the standard settings.

Thanks Nancy. The issue may be tied to your specific combination of browser and operating system. If I'm interpreting the logs correctly you are using Windows Vista. Is that correct?

An interim solution you might consider while I look into this is to install a different browser like Firefox or Chrome. These can co-exist with IE. Feel free to send me a private message if you need any help with this.

Using IE9 now and the pictures are popping up again like before instead of taking me away from the site. I really need to get used to using this new browser though @_@

Yes, I suggest upgrading to IE9, which seems to solve the problem in most cases. If you still see the problem with IE9, then please let me know.

Good morning Greg! I'm back to being able to click on the photos for them to open. However, they still don't open as a pop-up so I am still unable to toggle between photos. Well, I should say that this is the case most of the time. I was able to open one picture in the pop-up and toggle. I've given them all time to load like you said, so I'm not certain why it only happened the one time.

I'm struggling to figure this one out because I can't reproduce the problem on our Windows PC running IE9.

If you do have this problem, AND you have another browser installed (e.g. Firefox, Safari or Chrome), then please let me know what happens in that other browser. That is, is it only an IE problem, or do you see it in the other browser too.

Finally, if you would like to help me debug the issue, please send me a private message. I need to get more information about your setup and exactly what happens when you click on a picture.

Lynne, apologies for being so vague!

Speedtest should tell you three things: ping, download speed and upload speed. I'd like to know all of these (including the units). So for example, my results were:
Ping: 58ms
Download: 2.75Mbps
Upload: 0.74 Mbps

Greg, I ran the test speed. Then I went to the forums to try clicking. You seem to have fixed the problem for me. I am able to open a pop-up pick and toggle between photos. Yeah!!!!

Greg, my successful toggling was unfortuanetly temporary. I couldn't toggle this morning. When I click on the picture, it doesn't open the pop-up. I'm at work now, so I can't provide you with any other information about my system at the moment.

Nancy, I can't again today either. Maybe something behind the scenes with the site is going on? I'm back to the one pic at a time, open, close, go back etc. I did upgrade to IE9 and it worked for several days just fine.

There isn't anything going on behind the scenes that I know about.

Mo and Nancy, do you have another browser like Firefox, Safari or Chrome also installed on your PCs? I need to confirm that this is IE-specific.
