I'm back in the land of internet connection (although I'm still in Chile and the hotel wi-fi is sloooooow), but I thought I'd take some of my unwinding time to say hi and check in to see what's the latest with all you fab ladies.

Antarctica is AMAZING -- like nowhere else on earth. Greenland was remote, but I've got to say that the Antarctic is a whole other level of remoteness. I was on a ship for a week of exploration, and it was a fascinating trip with lots of photography, camaraderie, adventure, and fun. We ended up making our goal of crossing into the polar circle. We saw lots of penguins, whales, seals, and birds up close and personal. We visited ruins of whaling stations, the southernmost airbase on the planet, cruised through iceberg graveyards, past glacial bays, and through amazing channels, and for a really special treat, all the passengers and crew on the boat got to disembark onto a big sheet of pack ice for a champagne celebration! But my main objective was photographing the incredible ice. I imagine a lot of people would be disappointed I didn't get more penguin pictures.

Since my connection is so slow, I'll only upload one photo for now. This was one of my favorite captures of the trip (so far -- I still have many to review). We were on a zodiac speeding past this iceberg because technically we were not supposed to get too close to it. I fired a few shots at high speed with a wide angle lens and was thrilled to get the whole arch plus the sky and the splash from the zodiac -- all sharp and clear! What a great memory.

Hope you all are doing well! I'm off to check out some threads and see what's new here. I'm off to Torres del Paine tomorrow.
