Green-lovers rejoice! Emerald is Pantone's 2013 color of the year

I'm kind of excited! I remember seeing the different things Sephora did with tangerine and I wasn't a fan because tangerine and I don't play well together.

How do they chose the colors?

I am dancing around in joy! And my closet is already stocked with emerald! The only thing I'm missing, and have been wanting for years, is emerald oxfords... maybe this is the year!

I don't like that particular swatch you're posting, but do think emerald green is a gorgeous, flattering color. I happen to associate this color with springtime, but will be happy to see it sported around any time.

I wear the colors that look best on me, which are not necessarily the ones Pantone touts as colors of the year or whatever. I like emerald, but it doesn't like my skintone, so I'll have to pass.

So interesting! This was not reflected in the runway shows. White and blue is where I put my money, although there was lots of green, red, yellow, earth tones, black & white, and purple too.

I wonder how much different computer monitors affect our ability to see colors accurately.

Love all the jewel tones. Emerald is already represented in my closet.

It is always interesting to see what colors are pushed, and what colors take off.

Oh, I am on board this year then! I wasn't last year. I felt the orange was too at-odds with the prevailing mood.

I agree the swatch they show seems a little dull. Emerald needs a little shine, a little glossiness.

I love green and have been moving from yellow to blue greens along with the trends. I love true emerald. I've already tried an item this colour (Old Navy denim jacket) and I don't like it. It doesn't pop enough, nor do I see it as a neutral you can wear with many other colours.

What I am a little surprised by is the hue --- not what I think of as emerald, off the top of my head, though of course *an* emerald can definitely be that colour!

Pity, as this particular shade is hard for me to wear --- none of the greens really belong in my Top 10 colours, though, so no surprise there. And more's the pity as orange isn't in that Top 10 either.

All the happier, therefore, to have Angie chime in with her vote for blue and white. Now THOSE I can get 100% behind!

Emerald, and many other cool shades of green are among my favourite colours, so I'm very excited!
(as Angie pointed out, I've been seeing a lot of white and light blue on the runways for next Spring though, which I love as well, so it's promising to be a fun and fab 2013).

I love a good jewel tone, so I hope I can find some nice emerald pieces to sport. Maybe a new sweater, or a statement necklace would be fun.

Good! My closet is already ready. I love almost all greens, although I would have been almost as happy with Angie's blue prediction. I enjoy a bit of orange but its not my best color to wear. Oh, and I'm still going to buy all. the. burgundy. while I can! I will wear it no matter whether it's a popular color or not.
