Great sales on LE puffer coats

After Angie's recommendations for puffer coats (a necessary part of life in Chicago), I was debating between the Eddie Bauer and the Lands End coats. I did like the smaller squares and the fur trim of the hoodie better on the EB version, but the red of the LE coat is warmer and thus would be more flattering for me. Plus the price for the plus-versions were very different: $219 for EB, and $139 for LE.

Then I spotted the coupon sale going on at the LE site: 40% off your highest-priced item and free shipping. Which brought my coat down to $89!!

I am not opposed to paying good money for quality items (witness my purse and shoe collection, LOL) but $130 difference between coats is just too much to pass up. I didn't like the faux-fur trim THAT much. ;-D

It is on the way to me now. If you are looking at puffers, it's a great sale for so early in the season. Take a look!

Thanks Kristen. I have one of the shorter ones in my cart waiting for me to decide. Great deal as it is only $65 with the sale and 40% off. I already bought my above the knee puffer and the shorter leather puffer but one just lower bum length would fill out my puffer wardrobe. And to think I resisted puffers for years.

I just checked and the free shipping is to Canada too. Bonus

I bought my puffer coat from LE last March at the end of season sale (plus an online discount), and boy am I happy to be wearing it right now (and it hasn't really gotten all that cold yet). The quality is very good especially considering the price.

For Canadians, you can use the online discounts including free shipping but there will be some duty to pay (about 20%, unless the item is made in the USA), but overall it still is a good deal.

@Kristen: I didn't like the faux-fur trim on the hood of mine so I took it off. I don't know if it will fit your EB coat, but if you measure the length of the zip on the hood and it fits, I'll send you mine. It is a brownish-grey variation color.

That's a nice coat for a great price! The colors are fun, too. You've almost tempted me. A few nights of below-freezing during the holiday party season can give me a moment of weakness!

Just in case anyone's interested - there's a coupon out there (valid until December 18th) for 50% off one regular priced item at Eddie Bauer - coupon says "in stores only". I received this in an e-mail, so I guess if you sign up on their site, or have ever ordered anything, you might also get one of these?

That said, it seems you got a *really* good deal Kristen - thanks for telling us about the additional 40% off deal at LE.

Hmm, I am so tempted by both Lands End and Eddie Bauer promotions! I have one long puffer that I am perfectly happy with (in black). Can I possibly justify getting a red puffer too? Considering that we usually have temps between 0F and 20F from December until March, the answer just might be yes. Thanks, Kristen and VC!

I am also considering a warm jacket as a Christmas gift for DS since his is about 4 years old by now.

I was over at my parents' house this afternoon and we ordered one for my mom. She got the same one Kristin linked in the blue/green color. It should be good for her. It is usually between -20 and -40C here from December to February.

Laura, I was looking at LE cashmere sweaters for DH, and the reviews are sadly disappointing. It looks like the quality went way down, at least on the men's v-neck sweater.

So far I ended up ordering a sweater from LLBean that had good reviews and said "much better than your primary competitor's", which I took to mean LE. I got an offer for 10% off on LLBean (code DEC10). It's still almost twice as much as LE but less than most department stores.

Rosee, I actually got the LE coat, but in red. I think the plain hood will be just fine, but I appreciate the offer!

Laura, I had to go for red after wearing my red Target trench all fall. The color went with everything, and because I have neutral purses, it's just a perfect match for me.

that is a great deal, i should pull out my puffer and see if it will make it through this winter. i used to have 2 but got rid of one last year. if not, LE may get my business.
