Oh I dunno, I feel like ‘Afghan’ blankets were already pretty granny back in the 80s? I think my vintage-loving kid, who has someone else’s great-grandmother’s Afghan blanket on her bed (as retrieved from my friend’s garage - it’s too hippy for her more classic boomer in-laws), would find these try-hard and corporate. She would only thrift more authentic pieces. I personally have always loved the motif, but crochet wasn’t something my otherwise clothes-crafty grandmother or mother ever did. I’m unlikely to wear the trend as it does feel too young for me (so maybe similar to your reaction), but if I did I would buy something from a small maker - and as it happens a friend makes some cool stuff:

A lot to unpack, indeed!
