I posted a while back asking if anyone had tried Gourmet Body Treats, and even though nobody had I went ahead and asked for a whole bunch of their products for xmas. Their website is here: http://www.gourmetbodytreats.com/ I decided to try them out because I have very sensitive skin and am trying to put fewer chemicals on my body. I'm also into ethical businesses, green products, and not a fan of animal testing. I'm posting a review of the products I tried in case anyone is interested.
eye pencil - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....ye_pencil/ - I got this in brown, and it's wonderful! I wear it everyday, and the ingredient list is MUCH better than the sephora stuff I had been using previously. Applies well, smudges well, sharpens like a dream!
eyeshadow - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....ye_shadow/ - I ordered samples of porcelain iris and gun metal gray, and promptly gave them to my sister because they are too white and gray for my coloring. The keepers for me (and my coloring) are freedom song and mediterranean earth (both shimmer) and mountain rocks and dark earth (both matte). Because they are loose powders the application takes some practice, but I love the warm earthy colors and how little product I use to get the color I want.
lip liner - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....lip_liner/ - I got this one in sienna, and wear it either matte or with my Dr. Bronner's lip balm on top if I want a bit of shine. I haven't worn it much because I usually don't wear a color on my lips, but I really like it when I do wear it.
powder foundation - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....oundation/ - I ordered samples of this in 113, 114, and 115 to find the best match. It turned out that 113 was best for me (pale warm skin), 114 was best for my sister (pale cool skin), and 115 might work for me if I get tanner in the summer. It applies well (with my ecotools powder brush) and has a great matte finish that lasts.
blush - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....sse_blush/ - I ordered coral, and it's a good match. It blends in really well, and isn't too bright. Again, it doesn't take much product to get results.
color pallette - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c....._pallette/ - This is the only item so far that I've had mixed feeling about. The brown works really well as an eyeliner (with an eyeliner brush), but the others have been a bit too thick for me to do much with. I've tried the nude color as a concealer, but I'm not blown away by the results. The bronze works ok as an eyeshadow (applied with fingers), and the coral would be a decent blush but I don't like having shimmer in my blush.
soothing hydrating serum - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....ing_serum/ - I got this as a free sample, used it a couple times and it moisturized well. The sample size was too small for me to use it long enough to give it a thorough review.
lemon mint cleanser - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c....._cleanser/ - Another free sample, used it several times and found it was a bit too drying for my skin (after a couple days of morning use). It would probably be better for people whose skin doesn't dry out easily.
xmas tree soap - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....shea_soap/ - Another free sample (the one I got was in a wreath shape), and the cranberry seeds for exfoliating were a bit too much exfoliation for anywhere but my feet.
chocolate mint foot cream - http://www.gourmetbodytreats.c.....oot_cream/ - Yet another free sample, this one smells great and works well.
Whew, I think that's everything. Overall I've been really happy with their products! I apply make-up with a light hand and use it to add polish without it looking like I'm wearing a lot of makeup.
Oh, and their shampoo (unfortunately) has Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, which is better than the Sodium Laurym Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate, but is still a skin irritant. So I haven't tried it.
Here are some pictures of me wearing the eyeliner pencil (below eyes), all four eyeshadows, eyeliner from the palette (above eyes), concealer (on chin), powder foundation (whole face), and smidge of blush.
