I decided to go ahead with the wide-leg pants as maybe an JFE look (kinda wide for bottoms !), for variety in pant color, and for fun with tucking in. Took me awhile to get them hemmed so I need to get them in rotation.
I'll need to be an early boot-wearer because they're hemmed for boots to make use of a bit of heel height, and yet are not for very cold weather (unless with merino long underwear!).
I am trying a ruched top in #1 to intentionally get a more fitted look, but with the ruching to un-fit it a bit. and wide neckline for balance.
--boy, it looks kinda '60's--too much so ?
--does the ruching fight with the pleats?
#2 is just a cardigan tucked in, trying the fall colors and I find I like to use relatively low-contrast tops with the pants. Seems pants are hiked up & belted higher here.
I see that if I used a belt that blended in with pants even more--where are you, dark red belt?--it would help shorten torso a bit more. So may try to avoid black belt with black top even thought that seemed matchy-good at first.
These are quite wide and swishy. Most of time will be partially camoflaged by coat. Will see if they make me feel too "out there"!
What say you on these options and other things to try?
