Hi everyone, first I would like to apologize for not being here much for the last couple of days, work has been ridiculously busy: lots of super long experiments, a bunch of all-nighters and lots of work for the teaching class I am taking too. Things should quiet down by the weekend I hope.
However, I wanted to share some really good news, my first research grant proposal is going to be funded! For those familiar with the area, it is an equivalent of F32/NRSA grant proposal, basically a postdoctoral fellowship. I have worked so hard on this for more than a year now and am relieved it finally went through (it was a re-submission). It will give me funding for the next three years and some more time to decide what I want to become when I "grow up" - it feels silly to write this as I am 35. Postdocs have almost become regular day jobs nowadays as they tend to last longer than ever. I still do not know if want to be a professor/PI myself - a lot about the profession appeals to me but there are some sides of it that really don't mesh well with my personality.
I am off to another 20 h long experiment now. I will try to catch up with everything soon, I promise!
