Gorgeous velvet duster for Janet, Brooklyn, and other tall gals

I should have known this would swamp me like a bathrobe, but it is lovely and someone needs to buy it! If I could pull off this kind of drama I would be ecstatic. The color is a deep dark teal and the velvet is silky and heavy. Runs bigly.

It's gorgeous in that Balsam color. I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to add something in velvet to my wardrobe. Even though I'm 5'8", I have narrow shoulders so things sometimes do look overwhelming on me. Macy's carries Free People, I wonder if they carry this? I might pop in tomorrow to check it out, I'll be at the mall anyway.

That model must be TALL!!! It says the length is 44" but looks like 36 - 38" on her. Ah, money saved.

I LOVE it! It's a bit spendy and out of season for me so I will just have to wish list it for now. Sooo tempting though. I used to have a jacket just like this in dark brown velvet and I wore it to death. Eventually it had holes all over it. I was so sad when I tossed it.

Commiseration from another petite here. I love FP clothes, but they rarely fit. Everything is just too long and big. I always have to limit myself to trying their body-con styles, because those are the only pieces that have a chance of fitting.

Ooh. I have been searching for a velvet top but not really finding one I love (everything is either too fussy, too bare, too boxy, etc). I really like this though!

FP does often run bigly. I wonder if a M would work for me. I do often need to try their tops in a S but I wonder if my hips negate that on a long jacket like this. It doesn't look terribly tailored, but it's hard to tell from the photos. Any insight on fit?

Side note: I really like the way the seams on the model's jeans are released so they look slit at the hem. That makes me want to try doing that to a pair of straight leg jeans!

Janet, I think you'd be a S! Look at the measurements on the site. A S fit me
In the shoulders but was too much like a bathrobe everywhere else, and much too long (pocket and button stance too
low even if I cut a foot off the hem). It's really a luxe item and the color is stunning, sort of a dark peacock teal.

I just saw this in the store today. The color and texture are GORGEOUS, but it is really long and shapeless. It came to mid calf on me, had no waist shaping, and the top part was quite droopy. I wish they made something else in this teal velvet!
