Gorgeous KM Chain Handle Bag Won't Work

The chain competes with my pearls and green specs, which I wear ALL the time. I look like a Christmas tree.

My bags MUST work with my pearls and specs. It's non-negotiable.

It's a VERY comfortable bag though. Not at all heavy. Well made. More tomato in person. And you can't feel the chains because of the shoulder padding. Good design.

I do already have a fun little chain handle bag that I bought in Amsterdam a few years ago. It does NOT compete with my pearls and specs. Also tomato red, so it works with my new red loafers and Chucks. (Finds #2 to #4). Find #1 is the KM bag.

I often run into this problem. I like red, white and green, but can only wear two at a time, otherwise I feel too festive.

LP, it's not the colour combination that I'm opposed to - it's the ornateness of the look that does not appeal to me, IYKWIM. Kitch in bad way - not a fun way.

Lisa and JAileen, YES. Of course. I'm always on the look out for another bright pair of frames. Red, turquoise or white have been on my list for years - can't find the right pair.

Maybe you need an apple green bag with a string of pearls for a chain. Tomato red with green and white polka dots? If you find the right white specs, let me know. We can be specs twins

bummer... i love that you would think about how the bag looks with your glasses...i never think about that...what i do think about...how much it hold, how easy it is to get into, how to feels when i wearing it, if it works with a winter coat....now i'm going to have to add does it work with my glassess!

I get it. Christmas tree is not you. The bag's chain can read as ornate hardware, too. I usually wear contact lenses, but when in my specs, I find earring decisions complex. If a necklace were part of the equation, plus a "busy" bag, I'd be in trouble. Moving right along... Thanks for sharing how you assessed the bag.

The devil is in the details and sometimes it can be so hard to predict that an item won't work, especially as in this case where you already had one example of a chain handled red bag that felt fine. Interesting.

Well, onwards, I guess, and I know you will find an option that works!

I am all in favour of additional spec, though. I adore your green ones but also loved several of your retro frames from before and wonder if it might be fun to switch things up now and again.

On the "garishness" front -- this is why I experiment only very occasionally and carefully with necklaces. I don't wear specs any more as a regular thing...but I do wear (at least small stud) earrings every day, and I pretty much always wear a belt...and with my short waist, earrings, necklace and belt almost always feel like too much on me. I don't see others as "too busy" when wearing all of these -- it's something to do with my own frame.

Your reasoning is perfectly understandable. I am pretty sensitive to the feeling of "too much going on" when taking into account my neckline, jewelry, hardware and eyeglasses. This is why I like having a couple of different pairs of specs, one of which stands out a bit more and one of which is quieter. I also really like having bags with no shiny hardware for times when I want to let my jewelry do the talking. I've also fallen in love with pieces only to try them on and feel like they are too busy. The devil is indeed in the details!

I love the idea of a red bag, maybe a satchel style that does not have a shoulder strap to compete with the glasses and pearls.

Too bad, such a pretty bag. I avoid too much busyness myself, so I do get it. Although I don't usually consider my bag when assessing an outfit. Might have to start that.

Boo! Well on to something else I guess. Sometimes I think people forget that putting together a consistent style that really truly works for one's daily life means a lot of trial and error at times. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't settle on something, no matter how long or how many items it takes to find the "right" thing.
