It is lovely, but... leather is really heavy when you get into a big bag like this. Add in kid stuff, sunscreen, water bottles, etc., and it is going to be torture to lug around. With that caveat, I think this is a great bag! I have a bag in a similar style purchased around 1990. It looks great and has never been out of style.

Ariadne - did you see that Angie has posted (on the store) about a GAP messenger bag that is a lot less expensive than this? may be worth checking out.

I never thought about leather getting heavy. Interesting! I like the one in the store quite a bit, although the colors are less fun. Is PUL lighter in weight?

I wouldn't use a bag like this to haul All The Kid Gear--my body can't take that amount of weight in any incarnation of a cross-body bag. I use a plain black diaper backpack for that. It's unstylish, but necessary. Mostly the backpack stays in the stroller/car, and I keep my wallet and a few essentials in another bag that I actually wear on my body.
