…or maybe this should be trends that worked for you?

I love a good trend report. I don’t feel compelled to jump on every (micro) trend, sometimes get my hackles up when styles (I like) are determined passé, love when something old is new again, and sometimes find something ‘new’ that looks good or interesting to my eye and will add currency to my style. I try to keep an open mind when reading trend reports, as well as my sense of humour - and generally consider trend reports in a positive light.

A few trends have actually solved styling problems for me, though some took a while to ‘take’. Tends I’ve appreciated the most:

- ankle pants/cropped length/the new (shorter) full length. Having struggled my entire life with the lack of sufficiently long inseams, the normalization of what used to be ‘flood’ pants has been a blessing. As long as the silouhette is modern or classic, the shorter inseam seems intentional, rather than a fashion faux pas. Works for me!

- sneakers with everything! I was an early adopter since this trend solved fussy feet footwear issues. I did get the side-eye from DH, but plenty of validation out irl. Another win!

- though a late adopter of puffers (2016?) I’m a fan. I suppose they’ve become so common, that they aren’t a trend anymore - although colour and silhouettes change with some being more current than others.

- there does seem to be a return of the long cloth (maxi?) coat. I’m on board for wool warmth, coverage, and a little sophistication. Maybe it’s an old classic coming ‘round again.

- bias cut slip dresses/skirts. Weren’t they big in the 90’s? Now they’re back. I didn’t have one in my 30’s, but I’m finding the one I have easy to wear in my 60’s! LOL!

- fluid wide legged trousers. These are tricky to fit, but I do like having at least one pair in my closet as a pants option. When the fit is right, they can elevate a look and be comfortable to wear.

What about you? Have any trends had particular resonance for you? Have you adopted any into your style repertoire? Made them part of your signature?
