Good Thoughts, please

My coworker's DH went into cardiac arrest on Friday. He never regained consciousness, and he died this morning. He was 48.

I'm not sure why I'm posting. I realize things like this happen all the time, but it hits a lot closer to home when DH and I are about the same age. She has a 10 year old son with Down's and a daughter in high school.

Anyway, if anyone can spare a thought before bed to wish her strength to get through this, I'd appreciate it.

When a person dies, it's always like a piece of the road falling away in front of you. It stops you in your tracks and changes everything. You don't even have to know the person, have ever spoken to them. It's like the butterfly in South America causing a storm in Europe.

Oh dear . I will certainly put aside some time tonight to think about her and hope that some peace can come to her and her family . It's very devastating , and i think that : " but for the grace of god go I " ....etc . Or whatever that phrase is .

oh, so sorry for your coworks loss...sending positivie thougths your way....

(and sorry to be a nudge, but this might be a good time for you and your DH to insure that you have wills that are up to date, and have agreed on a guardian, just in case....again apoligize for being a downer, but both my parents lost their parents very young and so growing up, these conversations were very common in my family. thankfully, nothing came from it, but i'm always suprised how many young parents i work with who haven't worked these things out. like having an interview outfit ready in advance, having a will takes care of scrambling thru these things at a time when you have bigger issues to deal with)

Sorry to hear this. It's so awful to lose someone so suddenly, especially at such a young age. We all know life is fleeting, precious, and can end in the blink of an eye but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with it. Sending prayers your (and her) way.

I'm so very sorry to hear about this. Yes, when these things happen, it does make us stop and think. Life is precious, and losing someone at such a young age is particularly difficult. Hugs and prayers for all of you.

Oh, God. This is one of my greatest fears. I'm so so sorry for your colleague and will keep her in my thoughts and intentions. Such a terrifying thing to endure, I am sure. You're a good colleague and friend to rally others to send positive thoughts into the universe; I believe in that.

I am sorry you've been tossed about; your big heart is showing its empathy. When your friend is on a more even keel, you might give her a copy of Sheryl Sandberg's new book on how she found her new "normal" after her 48yo spouse died of a heart attack while on vacation. I think it's called Plan B or something like that. (She wrote Lean In). I've heard her interviewed several times in the last few days and the book sounds very helpful and compassionate. She is lucky to have you as a friend.

As someone who's DH was lucky enough to have warning signs we almost ignored, and have quadruple bypass surgery at age 48, there were several men 47-48 recovering from bypass surgery in the hospital at the same time. Please don't ignore anything out of the norm.

So sorry , it is so hard when someone younger passes away so unexpectedly,. It hits all that know them very hard. Just 5 months my sister's passing continues to have us all reeling. My husband lost two men in their early 50's very close together and the ripple effect was huge.
Love those around you as if it is the last day!

The co-workers' family is in my thoughts and prayers. My DH also had a cardiac arrest at age 48 and was not the only one in ICU that age that had had a cardiac arrest. The doctors said that they are seeing this at younger ages. With Gods mercy, DH survived, but it was a long trip back and still is. This week he sees his cardiologist after a month of wearing a heart monitor. It does not sound like good news.
Your friend may suffer panic attacks later. I did. There was no clue that DH had any heart problems so this came out of nowhere.

Another reminder to all of us that life is short, humans are not just mortal but suddenly mortal so we need to enjoy life and love those dear to us without putting it off for later...
