I just had to share a couple of amusing days with you all! Last week I started a new job. As I'm still getting the lay of the land, I'm being especially thoughtful in choosing my outfits, trying to make sure I'm looking professional, competent, authoritative and approachable, all wrapped up in one. And it just hit the 90's here in Portland, so I'm also trying to stay cool!
So here's the rollercoaster of fashion the last two days:
Good Thing: Pull together an outfit of a grey striped self-tie buttondown, black pencil skirt and yellow patent wedges.
Bad Thing: Realize as I'm leaving the house at 7:50 that I have an 8 am meeting. Frantically email organizer to tell her I'm running late.
Good Thing: Feel confident walking in 20 minutes late as above outfit is working for me.
Bad thing: Realize at 2:30 that my skirt has been on sideways all day with the kickpleat on the side instead of the back. (I'd been carefully making sure the zipper hadn't shifted around, but had forgotten that the zipper was supposed to be on the side, not in the back!)
Sigh. Start over today:
Good Thing: Feel happy with newly created outfit of white skinny capris, blush pink tissue weight sweater, and nude wedges with BIG pearl and gold necklace to keep it from being too casual.
Bad Thing: Promptly spill coffee down self at 8:35.
Good Thing: One of my new colleagues told me that she loved how I dress and really enjoys seeing my outfits every day! That just about made up for everything :-).
I'm figuring I'm due for a third fashion disaster tomorrow. Stay tuned! What were your good things/bad things this week?
