I think it was Claire who posted recently about how people budgeted for accessories and I mentioned I barely had any. I have always been pretty clueless about picking them out and I get overwhelmed for shopping for them. The few things I owned were given to me or picked up thrift where something just caught my eye but options were limited.

When I went thrifting last week I had a crazy thing happen. I walked into goodwill and headed to the dress rack. The first thing I spotted was MY Kiyonna dress! A dress I love and wear often. I knew I was going to grab it to either save for a rainy day or pass on to someone that wanted it. As I inspected closer I found that it was NEW, with TAGS. I knew then I was going to resell.

I'm in a Facebook group that is an offshoot of my online playgroup for moms that had babies the same month as I did. This offshoot group is about thrifting and we post pics of what we find. I had to post the dress and tell the story. I mentioned there that I was planning to sell.

A friend from that group mentioned that she was jealous because she loved that dress and I know she close to my size. She had also mentioned it before when I posted a pic of me wearing the dress. She is on a tight budget so I knew she would not buy the dress from me. I kept thinking about it though, I wanted her to have it, but she wouldn't want it as a gift, especially after I posted about how excited I was to resell.

A couple days later I remembered that she had mentioned before how she used to sell premier designs jewelry and had boxes and boxes, more than she could ever wear. It occurred to me I should propose a trade maybe the dress for a necklace or something. So I did, and she sent me picks of TONS of stuff she had. I really liked several things and I asked if it was all extra, and if she needed more clothes. I went through my closet and pulled out several things I thought would suit her that I needed to purge and we did a trade. Both of us super giddy.

The pictures below are the necklaces I got in the trade. The pendants are all removable or interchangeable.

Also related to accessories, a few weeks ago I thought i might try some inexpensive summer scarfs and looked on ebay, buy it now, sorted by lowest price. I was surprised that there were some that caught my eye so I bought a few, including the one I wore today. I spent less than $10 total on scarves. I added pics of the ones I got.

Also a pic of the dress I own where I found the exact one at goodwill.

Not a full accessories wardrobe by any means, but at least I feel like I'm in the game now =)
