Good choices for apples?

So I found these items at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:

Do you think those are good for an apple body shape? Even if I'm not an apple (not sure), I know I carry the majority of my weight in my middle and breasts. I'm not entirely sure about the dress because of the high neckline (v-necks look best on me).

Ariella, according to the apple guidelines, you need to avoid high collars. Both items you picked out have high collars.

Dani makes good suggestions. I feel a little blind. Any way you can post a picture? If not, that okay. You might be an inverted triangle.

When did you last have a professional bra fitting?

I had one in January. I usually go to Nordstrom for my bra fittings. It's kind of funny... I used to live in NJ, so never had problems with getting a bra professionally fitted in either NYC or northern Jersey. Now I live in the midwest and, aside from Chicago or Milwaukee, I cannot find a halfway decent bra shop. Macys is totally out.

I will try to have my husband take a picture of me and post it.

Dani -- I love color and patterns. But I was recently told that buying patterns "dates" the clothes, so that they can only be worn for a season or two. I don't know if that's actually true or not, but ever since I heard it I am trying to keep my purchasing of patterns to a minimum.

Thanks for the suggestions! I do like some of them... not sure about the bubble dress.

i saw a reference to milwaukee, so i had to chime in! that's where i live.

as for the items you mentioned, i'm not sure the dress would be the best choice. i would say that anything with a band across the midsection would look nice. my mom is an apple, and she looks best when she wears something with a clear top, middle, and bottom. if the midsection has slight ruching, it can mask that area. also, v-necks work best for her. it sounds like you already have discovered the joys of v-necks

an a-line skirt would also work best b/c it flows away from the body - this helps avoid any tapering that would accentuate the size difference between the tummy and hips/legs.

Where in the midwest do you live? In N. Illinois between Milw, Wisc and Chicago Ill? I think it would be worth it to head to a nordstrom (there are plenty in and around Chicago) and get a bra fitting and buy a few bras.

Christie, I live in Madison, WI, but as I said, I had a bra fitting in Nordstrom in January/early February. I am planning to go to Chicago in August for a trip, so I will likely stop in there and see if my size has changed at that point. I do go for regular, professional fittings.

Shell -- Milwaukee! Woo! I wondered if there were any Wisconsinites on this Board.

Ariella....How busty are you? Do you have a difficult time with anything banded falling properly under your bust? Do you find that empire seams always fall across your boobs, instead of under?

Photos will definitely help us.

I think the items you chose are nice, but not for full figures. Keep looking for V necks and garments that are structured, but to your natural shape. The curved button front jacket doesn't have a natural shape to it, IMO....
