Going Emerald Green in Small Pieces

I loved Angie's post about accessories on Friday, and got inspired to pull out my last belt addition and make an outfit around it. Last weekend I found this green leather belt, and since all my belts are more or less neutrals, I thought I should give it a try.

Emerald green is supposed to be the color of the year. My belt might not be true emerald green, but it's quite close, I think. I'm not going to add very much of this color to my wardrobe, mostly because I'm more or less done with my updates for this season. A belt can make a difference, and I liked this green belt with jeans and my new tuxedo shirt. I hope it will be easy to incorporate in other outfits, too.

Outfit elements: Green leather belt, jeans, blazer, tuxedo shirt, oxfords and clutch. Do I need something else in this color to bookend it, or is it okay as a stand alone-piece? What colors do you think it would work well with?

Green is my favorite color, and you look great, Ingunn! That is a dashing ensemble, and I like the shoes very much. I'd like to see this with a light-colored topper instead of the black, though the black is fine, I'm just curious.

I don't think you need anything else to bookend the emerald. And as far as other pairings, I'm curious to see it with your blue dress. Thanks for the great pics!

Love this, Ingunn! And the belt itself looks like a quality, durable item. I don't think it needs bookending at all. But if you do find another piece with emerald in it another year, that will be fun to play with as well. I wonder how this belt would play with your (very different) green jacket? Would the tones clash, or stimulate each other?

Thanks, JulieJohn! Green is beautiful, particularly the brighter ones. If I should add any topper at all this season, it would be a light/white blazer or denim jacket. I do have a short beige trenchcoat and the taupe moto. Great suggestion, I will definitely give it a try. In regard of the blue dress - it might work indeed, but I'm not sure if that dress is suitable for belting because of the drape in front. I agree that blue and green are fab together.

Suz, thank you! I think the belt borders on being too rugged, but I loved the color and decided to get because of that. I think it would play nicely with my apple green blazer, actually. I'll check it out, thanks for suggesting it.

What a pretty green! A nice way to add THE colour to your wardrobe without going green mad. It goes very well with the neutrals in your outfit.

This is great (and I agree with Denise)! I think it works without bookending.

I picked up a scarf that has some bright green striped yesterday with the same thought (I am not going to go all out on the emerald trend but some of that color will be nice to add).

Love the belt and I think doesn't even need bookending! That is a pop of colour in it's own self! The tux shirt is beautiful and so versatile! Do you wash it often? is it not that hard to keep impecable white?

Normally I like a splash of the same or similar color elsewhere in an outfit, but in this case, the green belt can definitely stand alone.

If you want to try adding something, though, I can easily imagine a broach on the lapel of that blazer with some emerald green in it. Maybe a vintage or retro enamel flower, or a fabric flower with a bit of green, or something non-traditional or homemade that you can pin to the jacket.

The belt is a fab piece, Ingunn. The whole outfit is so lively because of this belt. I have been wanting to add a coloured belt to my wardrobe but I never seem to find wide belts around here. Most stores carry skinny belts in all kinds of different colours.

Beautiful Ingunn - that tuxedo shirt looks so fantastic and naturally chic worn this way and I love the green belt with it just the way you have it styled. I would have also wondered about adding another touch of green but seeing it here in the pics there is no need at all. Very nice outfit.

Lyn, Thank you! I only just got the shirt, so I don't know yet. But it is cotton, so I guess I can bleach it when necessary. It definitely needs ironing, but I love it anyway.

What a great find, Ingunn! Green is my favourite colour, and I love that you are using it as an accessory here. The entire outfit is fantastic. So glad you got the tuxedo shirt!!
