I had my eye appointment today and tried on some specs. These were the ones that fit me, so I can't say they're killer compared to what I have seen here, but at least they aren't huge. Most of them are purple, one is reddish purple, and one is tortoiseshell with green inner rims. I will not say what I think yet. But I will say that I am intentionally sulking in the last picture because the tortoiseshell and green ones were my favorites but I think they are too wide The shape was perfect but I couldn't find a similar pair in a smaller size.

OK, I thought these cat eyes fit but I can see now in the pictures they are too wide. I'll post anyway:

If you think none of these are killer or good enough feel free to say so. I am going to another place tomorrow. I'm probably not going to find anything within my budget since it's a pretty upscale boutique, but if that's the case, I'll just stick with my old glasses and hold out.

My favorite is the 4th pair, image 1906. I really like chunky glasses, and I think the thicker frame looks good on your face. Nice color, too. I'm not sure I would rate them killer, though - I think I'd want to see more photos of them from different angles.

I'm curious to hear what the experts say.

The rest are not thrilling me for you.

I love the last pair also, but I agree with you.... heavy and wide for your face.

I am no expert ,so lets wait and see how I compare.

Taylor, thanks for asking She was very sick all week and I decided last night to take her back to the vet today. To my delight, she was her usual sprightly self this morning and has been doing well all day. I'm SO relieved. I have been a basket case all week.

I think image 1907 is very flattering. My second favorite is 1906.

If you were going for a fun extra pair (which I know you aren't), I would say the chunkier ones, 1906 or 1909, would be the direction I would look, although maybe not those pairs exactly.

I can see why 1905 is popular, but there's something about that is missing the "pop" for me. I wish I could articulate what it is; they're very nice and perfectly serviceable, but I don't know if you would be madly in love with them.

My 2 favorites are 1907 and 1908, although I think neither is exactly perfect. I like the softer outer corners of 1907, but I think they are too wide for you and might have that cheek droop Angie was warning about. 1908 really brings out your coloring nicely, and I love the crispness of the shape and how that flatters the oval shape of your face. That said, I'm not sure if the squared-off outer corners are too sharp an angle. But I really do like them a lot, and they are the ones I keep flipping back to again and again. Flipping between 1905 and 1908, I prefer the darker color on you.

Yay! Maya in coloured specs! Well done for taking the plunge. And look at that pretty face :0)

I have not read anyone else’s comments because I feel it’s best that way.

Here is my 2 cents:

o LOVE the cats eyes. Not too wide at all. This *is* the look. Great lift, nice brow line and very retro. A huge statement. Gets my thumbs up FOR SURE. Are you ready for it? I know that your eyes will look smaller in these specs once your lenses have been fitted. ( My second favourite).

o 1904 is good. Very good colour.

o 1905 is even better than 1904. Fantastic! Very flattering. But the “safer” option. But safe can be fabulous. Please do not misinterpret this assessment! (My third favourite).

o 1906 is my #1 favourite. Hands down. No doubts at all.

o 1907 would have been very good– but they droop slightly. Not enough lift. Take those out of the mix.

o 1908 are too narrow.

o 1909 are too wide (sorry).

The second Coach pair are gorgeous, Maya. If that’s the style you are most comfy with – a big fat 9 out of 10 from me. But the cats eyes and 1906 have a lot more edge. You are a creative person in a creative field who wears a lot of black! I personally prefer the drama of the bold specs and feel it suits who you are. But the pretty Coach pair is wonderful too.

What a nice assortment of frames, Maya! I love the colors on you; the purple shades are very flattering.

I'm partial to the cat's eyes. They are so fun and I don't think they are too wide.

I also like the two Coach frames, for a more conventional look. I like 1905 a bit more than 1904, because the shape is more special.

It looks like everyone likes the second Coach pair, which surprised me. The shape and style seemed a little dull to me.

Angie, a few others liked the cat eyes but your favorite wasn't a popular pick (I think Medusa and Ana liked them). It was actually my favorite (after the CK specs which won't work out). My mom and the salesperson thought they were a little wide (vertically, not horizontally). They have nice temples and I liked the shape.

I still have one last place to check out. I'm sure I will find a lot there, but whether or not I can afford it is questionable. Maybe some of them will be on sale. Super duper sale...

If I don't find anything there, I have lots of thinking to do.

I’m glad you liked the cats eyes too. They are a VERY close second.

The coolframes look nice. Not sure I like the delicate temple, though. But the frame shape looks very good.

Angie, the coolframes are the ones you and I liked (1906). So they are not a favorite anymore?

I'm not sure about the cat eyes. I think I need to see them in person again. I feel like my eyes are too big for them but I know they will look smaller after the lenses are put in. I'm just not sure if it's small enough. It's so hard to tell.

I *like* that your eyes look big (actually, huge) in the cat eye frames!!!! I think you are on to something with this style. My only critique of 1902 is they seem a little too narrow - vertically speaking. Makes you look a bit too cheeky? See how all the other frames show more space right below your eye? But perhaps that is something that a proper fitting will fix.

I am curious, can you wear black frames? I always imagine black frames as being an artsy, kind of retro look.

Agree most of the others fall into the "too safe" category. But they DO look great. However, I know you want something more funky and trendy.

Shiny--those were my thoughts with the cat eyes, that there isn't enough space at the bottom. I have a tricky face to fit. I have a narrow face but big features too, so it's a constant balancing act.

I do not wear black frames. With my dark brows, dark hair, and dark eyes, black and brown are just too heavy. I actually wanted white frames, but they are very rare apparently, so I went with the purple/berry family, since that is supposed to be flattering with brown eyes and it isn't a color I wear a lot of in my wardrobe.

p.s. one more question (sorry, I am so insecure aren't I?):

I am going to one last shop pretty soon. I was wondering if the CK frames would have been a good pick if they were narrower. I was thinking of printing that picture and bringing it with me and looking for a shape similar to that. I REALLY loved them and it broke my heart that they were so wide. The mint green rims were amazing and I loved the shape. Am I right?

Maya, I LOVE 1906. (Our favourite and still ranks as my #1 despite the delicate temples). Very interesting that was YOUR #1 too.

Cats eyes are my #2 pick and as I said, a very close second.

I’d take the Coach specs out of the mix.

And you are on your way to a KILLER affordable specs look. Aren’t you a clever little veggie sausage :0)

Actually - I don't want to pressure you, but I feel cool that my favorite matched yours and Angie's. Somehow that pair seemed to suit you, both in how they looked and in your personality.
