ETA: more added- Glasses help please!

So I haven’t bought a pair of glasses since my son was born 10 years ago.

Sorry I don’t have great pics. I want glasses that are a little bit statement-y and not too ordinary. I want to look trendy and modern. I do NOT want to look eclectic - ie no glasses that make me look like a 50 year old arty creative Eileen Fisher type, if you know what I mean.

These are all a bit oversized. I like that vibe - I tried smaller ones but while they fit closer to my face they look ordinary and make me look boring and like I’m trying to blend in and be invisible, which I’m not. (Hubby said those all made me look Like I got my glasses from Costco, which is not what I’m going for. Nothing wrong with glasses from Costco - they can be flattering and timeless - but I want a more statementy look)

ETA: not looking for coloured glasses because they are too quirky for my taste.

Pics are not great, sorry. But any opinions is appreciated! First ones are Close ups and then the same glasses from further away. The ones against the white background look awful (I look cross eyed and unhappy) but I am not. Though I do find those ones to be too boring for me.

How fun! How did your old glasses look like? Are these the one's you are contemplating, or are you open for other options? I like the shape of these, but am a bit disappointed in the color.. I am thinking purple for you! Do you want earth tones?

Finding the right glasses can be SUCH a challenge. My glasses criteria are similar to yours -- I don't want to look like I am trying to look invisible, nor can I carry an Iris Apfel statement!

The ones you're looking at look good. Thank you for including the further back shots, as they give a better perspective on the overall look. They have a bit of a seventies vibe to them, which is kind of fun. I envy people who can carry strong frames.

Another option can be a more "boring" frame in a great colour.

Thanks all! I’m not a fan of coloured glasses as they are too quirky for my taste- I want something more sophisticated and modern for myself, though I like them on others.

I find glasses really hard to shop for and buy. 1 time it took me 9 months to find the right frames, and I’ve made the mistake of buying glasses that i thought were “ok” but wasn’t wowed, and yup, they where ok but a year later i was buying a new pair….so my take….and please don’t take this the wrong way, but if you’re asking us, then they probably aren’t the right pairs for you and you should keep looking.

I would prefer a black frame. 1-3 are okay, except for color. I don’t care for 4-5. Are the large ones comfortable?

I think these might look too big rather than oversized, the fit and they way they harmonize with your face could be improved. You might want to go somewhere else to shop. If these were recommended by the sales assistant, did they do any measuring?

I really like pic 7- these black ones are rounder and seem to follow the shape of your eyebrows fantastically.

I think Phoebe is probably right -- these don't look entirely scaled to your face. I know you want large-- and that's cool. But you also want a fit.

Do you know your bridge measurement, the width of the frame, the arm length on all of these? Which one fits the best (as in most securely)? What are its measurements?

Having said all that -- my favourite of these are 9 and 7. I have an admitted weakness for a cat's eye but I do like the "lift" that 9 seems to give to your face, and the way the shape echoes your brow line. They might be a bit too wide, but that might not be the case -- sometimes wider is better, I know.

#7 also follows your brow line nicely (apparently) and your eyes seem fairly centred. That is what you are looking for. Centred eyes, a secure fit, a nice echo of your brow line, a bit of "lift" if you can get it.

I quite like 2/3, 8 and 9 on you!

I'm seeing lots of statement shapes with clear frames lately, which could also be fun to try if you end up trying more.

The added pairs looks great! I don't know what you mean by "boring". None of these looks boring to me. What about going lighter in color? If not a color per se, what about doing gray, silver or gold? I want to like the first two pairs, because I think I get what you are going for. But they are juuuust so.. almost but not quite!

You made me smile in appreciation for your desire to look statementy but not arty creative (no colored beads too right? but I like colored beads!). Anyway, I think I understand . I am thinking #9, possibly in a more earth tone shade if possible. Although there is something amazingly cool about #3. I think it will help a lot to narrow it down and take more angles of the lead contenders.

#4 is kind of cool seventies, and I find it interesting. I also really like the shape of #9 on you. It "lifts" your face somehow. Does it come in colours at all? That might give it that extra spark you are looking for.

I’m looking at these again, and I’m not loving any of them for your goals. I like the rounded shapes better — 7 appeals to me, while the first two seem too angular and square. Also, I like the black colors better than the tortoiseshell. But I wonder have you tried a bold but clear frame? I’d be curious to see that on you. Glasses are hard! I say keep looking…

Glasses are tough! One thing I am noticing is that the fit of the bridge is off in all of these--it's sitting near the height of your eyebrows, instead of between your eyes where it's supposed to be. So I think these bridges are too narrow (i.e., so the glasses can't rest properly on the bridge of your nose in the right spot)? Given that major caveat, I think the rounded frames and cat eyes look the best in terms of complementing your facial shape and features. An oversized cat eye would be very elegant on you, I think! But wait for Angie's take, since she is such a glasses fit expert.

I wear glasses full-time now and have a tricky time with the bridge fit, because I have a bump on my nose, so I can commiserate :).

Girl, how old are you and why do you not have even one wrinkle? With regard to the glasses, most of them seem to not be sitting in quite the right spot. I’d also go with a lighter shade.

I think Angie said that generally glasses look best if the frames either follow the eyebrows or are below, with eyebrows above. I hope I haven’t got that backwards. If, as Jonesy says, the bridge hits too high that would lift the frames above the eyebrows. You might possibly do better with glasses with adjustable nose pads as opposed to the molded frames.

I really really like the rounder frames on you (6-10). I like the way they let us see your cheekbones—excellent bone structure, btw, lol. The metal bridge pair are my least favourite of those, however. Too 90s industrial for me.

#8 are my favourite. The black and silver colour scheme is beautiful with your hair. I would like to see you try a grey / black tone tortiseshell - I know Chanel have this colour in frames and think it would be stunning on you (alas also expensive). Hopefully there are some other brands who have this colour.

Love the oversized vibe on you! I think that a bold pair of glasses can sometimes look either arty/eclectic or luxe/statement - it depends on the rest of your style. FWIW, I do think you can go “bolder” and stay true to your style. Glasses are hard.
