Do you know when Nordstrom charges your card for a purchase? I'm all out of budget, but there is a jacket that is backordered until August that I'm considering. If I pull the trigger, will my card be charged now? or will they run the charge through when it is shipped in August?

I learned something in the NAS frenzy that's interesting..when I made a return then purchased other things at the same time, the SA ran them through as separate transactions. Yet when I tried to reconcile my account, they had totaled returns and purchases and charged/credited the difference. I had multiple transactions of each in a short time span and reconciling was a nightmare...it didn't match the receipts at all. Just something to watch out for.

For that very reason, I asked the sales assistant to do each return so that it matched the original invoice. That is the only way I can reconcile things accurately.

It's easier to reconcile the way Sterling says but now I let them return everything in one transaction and if I want to buy something else I have them do it in a different transaction so it's easier to keep track of the account activity.
Most of the time I go to the store with a wave of returns and doing that as a single transaction is easier for the SAs. I compromise with that part, that way when I go back the following time with the next wave of returns the SAs don't hide from me...
