Gilet: Length?

I have been wearing the Halogen gilet recently -- it's a new silhouette for me and I've really enjoyed wearing it. That said, I'm wondering that it might be a little long. Is there a "right" length for these? I wonder if it could be hemmed?

Yes, it can be hemmed. Mine is knee-length and I'm 5ft 6. I also wear a 1.5 or 2 inch heel with the look. No problem. How tall are you?

I'm 5'4" and I take a medium in the gilet so it's long on me. I've been wearing it with the kick flare halogen crops and loafers, and with skirts. I'm still try to sort out other winter footwear.

Does the term knee-length mean right above the knee? or below or in the middle? I've never been very clear on that.... In general should it be longer than the skirts I am wearing it with?

Knee-length means on or below the knee-cap.

I have two gillets. One, actually, is more of a structured sweater west, and it's below my knee. The other is similar to yours, but shorter -- mid thigh. I actually find the longer one easier to style, but I'm glad I have both!

Beth Ann: that's interesting to have both lengths - you must have good practice at deciding which length for which outfit.

For me, lengths and proportions are the hardest part of trying new looks.
