Gift Purse

I got this purse for my 63 year old MIL. She likes very simple things, but she carries around a LOT of stuff, and she's paranoid of being robbed. So I looked for a bag that was simple and not too gawdy, had a full closure zipper, but was still stylish and had some outside pockets.

She currently carries one of those "as seen on TV" Buxton purses that are supposed to carry a ton of stuff.... http://asseenontvnetwork.blogs.....tmare.html. Her husband bought it for her, and I think she carries it just to please him--I don't think she really likes it. She is always complimenting me on my bags...so I thought she might like a nice purse.

I am also planning on putting a gift cert to this awesome Vietnamese restaurant inside the purse. What do you purse people think of it?

The purse looks good. But, just checking, will your MIL like replacing the purse her husband got her? If she carries it now to please him, then wouldn't she feel conflicted about getting a new one? Sorry if this is off topic, somehow it was the first thought that came to mind. Feel free to totally ignore this comment

I like the purse. Hopefully, she will have a good excuse (her wonderful DIL bought it) to wear it and tuck away the old purse.

I know what you mean, Antje. My MIL were out shopping for hr and she was telling me the story of her purse. When she complimented my purse, I said, well let's look for a new purse for you today. She said "Oh I don't want to hurt Dave's feelings." So I said.."I have an idea... I'll buy you a purse as a gift and then you can tell Dave that you have to carry it cuz you don't want to hurt my feelings." She said "oooh I like the way you think, evil daughter-in-law...bwhahahahaha" So, if she feels compelled to carry her other purse, I really don't mind--but when it "breaks" (which might involve a mishap with a knitting needle), she'll have the FS purse as a backup!

But this was a month ago, and she has a memory like a sieve--so I doubt she'll even remember the conversation.
