I just returned my Athleta breeze shorts for a larger size. I originally paid using a $10 gift card. Exchanges are free to ship back, but returns cost $6. My gift card will be re-issued to me, rather than applied to the exchange for smaller size. Once the return is received they mail out a new replacement gift card. Silly, says I! So I either return, paying the $6, in order to get my new card before placing the exchange order. Or I exchange, with no credit for the gift card, but free shipping, and then get the card after the fact which means it cannot be applied to the order! Harumph. I have chosen the latter, begrudgingly. One wonders why they can't just apply that $10 to the exchange order for the exact item in a larger size?!?
Maybe some of you already know this but it was news to me - not good news!
