I have been thinking on what Una said on another thread about getting to know each other’s style by posting more pictures.

I don’t post many outfits because my main clothes are for work, trousers and tops, or at the weekend jeans and tops. I felt that I would bore you all to death with my combinations.

I have a wedding outfit that I have been putting together which I was going to post for confirmation that I looked appropriate if not particularly outstanding, also I bought last week a “dotty” blouse in the sales that I fell in love with months ago ( very daring for me ) which I was going to ask advice on.

So the question is should I post more and risk boring you, or wait untill I have something interesting and different to show you??

Post! It really helps you to figure out what works, what you maybe want to buy next and what to avoid in the process of finding your style. Although I personally don't post everything I wear, because it's often the same over and over. And I did start with practically nothing to work with in my closet. I feel really fab in some of my pieces, but most of my clothing is still nothing special. I still don't have the style quotient and variety most of the people here have, but I'm on my way.

I am the same. I have some every day outfits that I really like a lot, but I wear them week in week out.
I think I have not felt very good about myself for a while now so perhaps seeing the wonderful outfits here has kept me quiet and under wraps!!
LOL listen to me!! I sound like a right whinger!! Sorry, I promise I am usually a very up beat person.

I am a "post it" convert because on my very own skin I had found out the defining characteristic of this community is support. One can never underestimate the effect of a gracious and constructive comment. Every type of outfit deserves and gets positive attention. We may spot/confirm the things that really work and express why we think so, also the other way around.

I used to feel that only the runway- or magazine-worthy outfits deserve to be posted, but then I realized that those are not the reflections of individual styles or real life circumstances we need to dress for, just mere design installations. It's the real women who actually breathe life into whatever is considered style or fashion, and you can be stylish regardless of budget, age, profession or wardrobe size. I can also relate to the feeling of not being up there with all the WIWs we see here and that probably is the biggest obstacle to overcome. But, that is very subjective feeling, which - when you overcome it - opens the door to the new levels of confidence.

And FUN. I can hardly remember the last time "fun" was this much fun

I would encourage anyone to post, but in their own time, when *they* feel ready.

Aunty, I can totally relate to what you're saying! I, too, have been hesitant to post WIWs. I'm new in my style journey and have a very small wardrobe - certainly nothing very exciting at all. But, I'm choosing to post pics (today for the first time, gulp!) because I want to move forward, I truly want to learn and get better. From what I've seen, the ladies here are helpful, while being tactful and kind - that makes it much more comfortable!

Ornela thank you for your insight. You are of course quite right in everything you say. I think my problem was worrying that people would keel over with boredom at the sight off ” those jeans again”!!

Yellow I am so glad you are going to bite the bullet and give it a go! I am so with you on wanting to move forward, and yes the ladies on this forum are the most wonderful people!

From my experience I find posting the outfits a rewarding experience at several levels, I'll just point 3 of them.
Firstly , when you know you are going to post something, even without doing it on purpose, you pay more attention to how items go together and what kind of accessories you are wearing.
Secondly you say you only wear a suit pant and a blouse but the truth is that we all dress some kind of basic combination, a skirt and a top, some jeans and a tunic, etc. What seems boring for us because we simplify it so much when we see it in pictures we realize that the same formula has different looks to it during a week if we wear this or that blouse, if you add this scarf or that piece of jewellery.
Finally the support and fantastic comments/suggestions you receive from the forum members.
You don't need a big wardrobe and you don't need to post every single day so don't feel pressured about never repeating outfits or wearing the same items often.

Whenever you feel confident try to post an outfit you like, or that you want to jazz up, you will see ,as Ornella was saying, it is FUN.

I am a newbie and have yet to post. I do understand the hesitation to post. I keep thinking about it but never actually doing it. I think that it is interesting that I can feel nervous to post an WIW outfit that I wore to work in this safe environment but I don't really worry about "posting myself" each day when I show up for work and everyone looks at me throughout the day. I think that I have some thinking to do.

Angie, you are so sweet to say I will never bore you, I may just shock you though! Heck the moment has come to confess to you I have not worn a skirt or a dress in over 9 years!! There they say confession is good for you ( Gulp )

Oh, yes do post! I have very casual, not that earthshaking outfits on ALL the time this summer. But even those can use the helpful critique to make them the best version of themselves. I have had several plain 'shorts and a tee' looks that have had suggestions on top lengths, necklace additions, and so on. Besides, as your thread says, it helps to get to know the wearer so that you can have help on future questions on your style journey or possible purchases!

I agree please do post! I made a deal with myself that for a set amount of days I would post everything I wore to work and it actually helped me quite a bit with not feeling as bored with the same clothes everyday. It was like a challenge for me to get creative and try mixing things that I never would have before. I'm still figuring it all out myself but everyone here is great and very supportive.

Besides all the benefits listed above, I would like to point out another one that may appeal to you: once we see some of your pieces, especially on repeat, we can make suggestions using items we know you own. So if I know you have black jeans and an outfit would look better with those than what's posted, I can make that suggestion without feeling like I'm telling you to buy something new. And on the flip side, it can help us in knowing what we feel we can suggest that you add.
