Getting rust out of a white shirt

My boyfriend's favorite white shirt sat in the washer for several hours yesterday and now there is a small rust stain on it. We re-washed the shirt with OxyClean, used a Tide stain stick on it and washed it with bleach, all with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions for what else we can use to get rid of the stain? Thanks!

Sorry but I think rust stains are permanent...no help here:-(

I'm so surprised that bleach hasn't done the trick. i'd soak it overnight in an oxyclean solution.

just read here that chlorine bleach will set a rust stain. yikes! who knew?
Maybe try some of their suggestions anyway..

Shannon Lush is the Aussie guru of cleaning.

She says: make a mountain of salt on the stain and squeeze some lemon juice over the stain. Put in the sunshine and wait for the stain to fade.

Thanks everyone! PB, I was at the grocery store earlier and purchased another product by Whink called OxyRust. It scares me a little because the label says to use rubber gloves and not to breathe it in. I think I'm going to try the salt and lemon juice remedy first (although there is no sunshine here right now) and if that doesn't work I'm going to resort to the Whink.
