I've got a couple other things going as well, but here are a couple of quick fixes I did to lackluster items to save them from the Goodwill box.
The hat's brim only hung down, making it hard to see in front of me. So I found an old black rose pin and held it up--now it is a Blossom hat!
The shoes were much better looking online. On my legs, they matched so perfectly to my skin, and not in an elegant way. I added some contrast and pattern with a sharpie.
