I was born in Burlington, VT while Bernie was mayor; that probably explains everything about my sense of style. Bernie is a 100% accurate representation of how people dress for important events in Vermont: prepared for the weather, not for social interaction.
Like, every wedding or graduation I've ever attended has been rainy and ten degrees colder than it's supposed to be, and we all stand around in our Gore-Tex looking miserable until it seems like it won't be rude to leave. And you're either glad you brought your mittens or regretting that you didn't.
Granted, Bernie and I aren't *real* Vermonters; I'm first generation and he's a flatlander. They say you have to go back seven generations to be a Vermonter (or eight, depending who you ask).
